Overdrive Bookings is founded by father and daughter Bert & Heleen Peek around 2005. After working for Dutch metalband El Shit who played literally every club, cafe, venue, youthcentre and farmer shed in Holland we decided to broaden our perspective and focus more on foreign bands. We work for some Dutch bands, as well as being Dutch agent for international bands touring Europe. I also work as promoter for the ORKZ Bar in Groningen. Besides that I help organise gigs and festivals at several locations around the city.
In 2005 I did a traineeship at Paperclip Agency in Nijmegen, learned a lot there and worked for cool bands like Sweatmaster, Heavy Thrash, Slideshaker and the Specimens. After that, I did an internship at the famous Vera Club in Groningen, as assistant for promoter Peter Weening. Good times, worked with cool bands and seen great shows (my youth heroes Mudhoney & the Melvins!) and it was very interesting to be on 'the other side' of the whole booking process. In my spare time you can find me spinning records at gigs in Vera and parties around the city.
We often work together with Undertow Recordings an Alkmaar based recordlabel. Those guys really got their 'punkrockheart' in the right place and in cooperation with Sonic Rendezvous, they release some mighty fine tunes from excellent bands like Digger & The Pussycats, Vegas Kings and the Drones.
At the moment we are busy with the upcoming tour for SLUDGEFEAST at the end of April.Some quotes to remind you why you should go and see them:
