About Me

‘True beauty is what one may see in someone else’~Dave-id’s songs and images speak of beauty, love and transcendence. Through an intensely unique lyrical flow he has continued to refine and reveal both the allure and the darkness at the heart of the contemporary love song. Always articulated as a sincere, heartfelt experience often mixed with an equal amount of passionate intensity and evocative sadness. For Dave-id the song must constantly evoke the breath of life and in turn connect with listeners in both an intimate and powerful way.Since his creative evolution as a solo artist following the avant garde provocations of Virgin Prunes and the psychedelic experiments of the latter Prunes. Dave-id has continued to refine, challenge and confront his obsessions, dreams and desires. What distinguishes and separates Dave-id’s visionary compositions is expressing that passionate heart. Being broken often remains it’s strength.Through various solo works such as 'Smegma Structions Don't Rhyme' and 'Bushy Luxuries (The Whole Story)' with Toshiyuki Hiraoka. Dave-id has further challenged musical perceptions and accepted creative conventions both on record and in live performance. Along with friend and long-term collaborator Rod Callan he has successfully mixed musical styles such as rock, electronica, folk and ballads. Variously sung in many styles with an ever shifting melodic pulse, always soulfully and organically enhancing the songs distinctive moods and intentions; from a whisper to a scream, burning conviction laced with sardonic humour.Dave-id has recast the love song as 21st century spiritual odyssey but remains unafraid to reveal the innate darkness and tragedies lurking on the other side of relationships. New songs have been written and composed that further reflect the feral and tender sides of romantic self expression.Recently Dave-id has worked with both Gavin Friday and Guggi as ‘Three Pruned Men’ contributing to the recent ‘Rogue’s Gallery’ album. A project which reached a live realization on stage in Dublin and England in 2008. ~ "; I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts!

Sounds Like: "...a strange child reluctantly and most awkwardly mounts the stage, as if coaxed from the wings by some pageant-crazed mother, stand centre-stage and sing a song, solus, in a voice that held such a weird sadness within each expulsion and took flight with such ghostly brilliance that an entire morning of systematic inebriation spent in the bar was wasted, for this drunken wretch that had stumbled into the hall, now that the child had left the stage, sat stricken sober by his magical appearance and quite weak from listening and though I cursed the little bastard as I made my way back to the bar, I will never forget the simple pain of that opening song and the eerie beauty of its doing."
