I am who I am....

About Me

I'm your not so typical painter, poet, dreamer, cook, seeker of curiosities and endless purveyor of intellectual musings. I'm just as comfortable sitting at a cafe with friends as I am on the dance floor or hiking the temperate rainforests of the Pacific Northwest. I live by the rule, that everything's cool, just as long as nobody gets hurt. (That last sentence sounds better in song form. A gold star for you if you can name it)
"I do not wish to treat friendships daintily, but with the roughest courage. When they are real, they are not glass threads or frost-work, but the solidest thing we know."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson I'm not perfect, I don't claim to be. But nobody is. I'm just happy being me. My friends are important to me and I truly value each and every one of them (even those who I haven't spoken with in a while or seem to be on odd terms with).
I like to have fun and am usually up for anything. But I can also appreciate "doing nothing." I don't know, what more can I say? Ask me. Ask my friends. Take a gander at my interests....

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Well, I'd like to meet...you. Every person who I have ever met in my life has brought something unique to me. A different perspective, new ideas, an ear when I needed someone to listen, patience, humor, good times, some less than good times, criticism, advice, entertainment. The list goes on. Regardless, I've only become a better person with each friend, associate or acquaintance who has ever crossed my path.
I really only ask for one thing. Be yourself. Be real. ..

Music:

Give me country, give me metal. Give me celtic, give me punk. Give me a symphony or a tribal beat and chant. All genres, all decades, all languages, all countries. If you call my musical tastes eclectic, that would be an understatement.
Altan, Wolfstone, Muse, Manowar, HIM, Toby Keith, Massive Attack, Aimee Allen, Kill Hannah, Philip Glass, Yoko Kanno, The Baltimore Consort .....I could never name all my favorites here. I'm always on the search for some new aural experience.

Movies:

Movies are a passion of mine. Like music, I'm pretty much open to anything. Here are but a few of my many fav's:

Horror: Hellraiser 2, Evil Dead 2, Night of the Living Dead (original)
Sci-Fi: Starship Troopers, Blade Runner, Twelve Monkeys
Fantasy: LOTR Trilogy, Red Sonja, The Barbarians
Comedy: Stripes, Spaceballs, The Princess Bride, Monty Python and The Holy Grail
Action: Ran, Gladiator, Kill Bill 1 & 2
Animated: Aristocats, Iron Giant, Akira
Other: Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind
Classic: Lawrence of Arabia, High Noon, Citizen Cane
Pure Nostalgia: St. Elmo's Fire, Goonies, Stand By Me
Recent: A History of Violence, Walk the Line, V for Vendetta

Television:

Boston Legal, Lost, Family Guy, Nova...I'm a big PBS fan

Books:

Books are the stores of knowledge. I'm always hungering for more of these tomes.

Heroes:

People who not only say what they want out of life, but who actually go after it.
My Aunt Diane.

Children of Men and a quick update....

Children of Men: Brilliant and thought provoking. Dirty, depressing and morose. I loved it. The film has a lot of analogies, plenty of allusions and so many fine points to really ponder and consider a...
