Mark Damian is a drummer based out of the Detroit area. Making his living as a full time musician Damian makes frequent appearances on recordings as a session drummer and keeps an incessant live performance regimen with multiple acts resulting in a diverse musical background and reputation as a well respected, sought out drummer for the stage and the studio.Beginning his interest in drums at age three, performing for audiences by age nine, and recording in studios by fourteen Mark finally found himself as a full time, working drummer at twenty-seven. By this time versatility had become an important attribute in his playing having been involved in a range of musical genres: pop, rock, alternative, progressive, electronic, industrial, jazz, blues, country, R&B, and even orchestral to name a few.The recordings that make up Damian’s discography surely reflect this versatility. The “Adjusted” CD from sweatysuedelips had confirmed the band’s place as major players on the Detroit music scene in the early 2000’s. The band also earned two Detroit Music Awards in the industrial category with a third nomination. “The Chrome Recordings” from alt-metal band TCR featured Robin Moulder (Jack Off Jill) and production by Chris Vrenna of Nine Inch Nails and Tweaker fame. “Lowercase Fire Engine” from Cleanse is an original project with co-founding member Ken Roberts (Charm Farm, Control Freq, SSL). The project was formulated to satisfy interests in more avant-garde avenues of music but also helped to ignite the creation of their studio and production company Trig Media. The “Arteries” EP from singer-songwriter Jason Conley not only features Mark on drums it’s also a recording that Damian produced. “In The Round” from Laith Al-Saadi is the eclectic sophomore release from the soulful singer/guitar virtuoso that draws from influences of rock, blues, gospel, and even country. As Laith’s “first call” drummer for his live shows they have played for thousands headlining theaters and concert halls, performing on live TV and radio shows, and warming up the stage for classic acts.Between recording sessions and live performances Damian teaches music as a private drum instructor in Ann Arbor and areas of metro Detroit taking on students in different age groups and levels of study. Aside from drums Mark plays bass, keyboards, guitar, sings, occasionally writes, and is quite comfortable on the other side of the studio glass in the engineer’s chair.WWW.MARKDAMIAN.COM
