Scrumble funk
I chickened out from recording the vocals, I'll try and do it next week..

How to describe Tony Man’s music?
That’s a tough one. It’s damn good though. A track like 'Spangled' suggests the Future Sound of London jamming with Pink Floyd, a sight I, for one, would love to see! Swirling and graceful, this gorgeously mellow track slowly builds up layer upon layer of sound to create a satisfying completeness which also has a strange minimalist quality to it.
The production is satisfying too, clean and clear and managing to mesh every sound with every other, yet making each sound separate and distinguishable at the same time. I particularly liked the haunting, almost Gilmour-esque guitar, which weaves in and out of the other elements and gently links them all together. This is music that not only sounds right, it feels right too – and you can hear and feel the love and soul that have gone into making it.
True Sound
I've just added a demo of a song recorded with Marco Frangos, Berry Holdsworth, and, yours truly called True Sound.
We made it years ago on a 4 track cassette recorder, and a crappy drum box. the vocals were a rough take.. I think it;s a beautiful piece of music and Berry's words touch my soul.
Berry will always be loved and remembered.
oh that's me on guitar.. :-)
Uplifting song (444 mix)
I'd just heard Nitin Sawhney's Nadia for the first time, and wanted to play.. this is what I made..
About me..
My name is Tony Man,.. I love music. I’ve been learning to play guitar for a long time and I’ve picked up a few other instruments along the way. My tastes are diverse, but I love new original material. The stuff I’ve got on here is mostly electronic, but always has other instruments too..
I’ve played in several bands and I always love live music. I’ve been working with live bands since I was 20; doing everything from light/pyrotechnic shows to sound production, I find I enjoy that side as much as playing..
I played and recorded the songs I’ve got on here and I thought it’s about time to play them to people, I do hope you like them! Your comments would be welcome..
Sitar
I bought my first sitar in Delhi, it’s an amazing instrument, but, one that to truly master you need to practise everyday for many years.. I have played Sitar live at the Camden Palace(now Koko’s) and at Modulate’s Woodland Art Trail @ Shambala and a ew other places too.. I have had lessons with the world famous Sanjay Guha. He is really good and taught me lots, unfortunately time does not allow me to play as much as I’d like.
I love programming synthesisers; I first learned about programming with a Prophet 10 while working for a busy working studio in the days before midi came along. Since then I’ve been playing with musical toys whenever I get the time..
I played with a psychedelic-punk band in Reading in the early 80's known as the Escapists.. we played our first gigs at Doris' birthday party in a disused coal depot near Reading Station on the same stage as Here & NOW and the Ozrics;l that was an honour for all of us in the band.. we played many benefit gigs for the Red Rag.. We had some great gigs supporting Here and Now, the Ozric Tentacles, The Magic Mushroom band... It's all Opium for the people...
Sometime after that I joined a group with a long haired guy called Julian on vocals, Marco Frangos on Bass, Luke Rendell on funky drums and a guy called Alistair and his organ.. we played a few gigs across London. the best thing to come out of that was, Marco, Luke and I had a little studio in the back of a rehearsal studios in Camden.. We played all day and night and had many great laughs.
I sound engineered/produced the Smiling EP with 100%; they are the most energetic live band you will ever see.. The way Marco Frangos masters his bass guitar is without equal.. combine that with the tight punchy rhythms that John Hire puts out with such ease and you have one very exciting band! I sound engineered many gigs with them including the first live band to play at Hasting Castle at Don’t feed the Poets, with the legendary John Cooper Clark.. We totally Gomorrahised the place! Chuckle ye not....
I’d be most interested to collaborate with like-minded people.
Today I will mostly play Guitar, Sitar, Keyboards and assorted other buttons!
