Vanquish the Sun is the brainchild of Scott Farrugia. It was created to fuse his underground death metal influences with his technical prowess to give life to a new type of metal that could reach a wider audience. Vanquish the Sun seemlessly mixes blast beats, breakdowns, and epic guitar interludes that help their music stand apart from the rest of the Chicago metal scene.
In 2006, Scott began the writing and recording of Vanquish the Sun’s upcoming full-length cd. He recruited friend and ex-bandmate Mike Crothers to fulfill the vocal duties. Scott and Mike played together previously in the band Iniquitous, which released their Cadaverous Catacombs cd in 1999. They also were members of Bound and Gagged, which enjoyed some success from their debut Fornicate the Gutted cd that was released on the legendary United Guttural Records. Mike later joined the band The Grey Matter, but has since left to focus on Vanquish the Sun.
In February 2008 Vanquish the Sun completed their self-titled full length cd. It features 10 songs set to an amazing production. Scott layed down all of the guitar, bass, and drum programming for the album while the band seeks to complete their lineup. Check back here often as Vanquish the Sun has a lot in store for 2008.
