About Me

Music is a powerful language. It has extraordinary transformative power, both for the musician and listener. It's what I'm always trying to tap into, regardless of the musical style or setting.
I am an accomplished singer/songwriter/musician/bandleader. I have a few CD releases out currently and I've been fortunate to work with some very talented musicians. In addition to my guitars and vocals, my 10 song CD, "The Road Home", features John Miceli (Meatloaf, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow) on Drums and Al Improta on bass. "Liana's Lonely", a CD single that received a lot of college radio airplay, features Joe Chirco (Zen Tricksters) on drums and Nick Dimichino (Nine Days) on bass. "Greed and Fear" was recorded at NYC session wiz Geoffrey Armes's studio - Geoffrey and I play all instruments on this one and it features Ljuba Castot on backing vocals.
I am very happy to be playing lead guitar for The Kathy Fleischmann Band . We have finished mixing our 1st CD (Kathy has released 4 CDs already as a solo artist). The songs and performances are outstanding - you can pick up a copy by clicking HERE .
My original jazz group, True to Life, was selected one of the Best Unsigned Bands by Musician Magazine in 1990. Since the late 1990's I have returned to my songwriting and Rock roots. I have eclectic tastes as a listener and as a player. I enjoy performing solo, but I also enjoy working within the context of a band. I perform regularly in the NY area. My music has received international airplay and is available via most download services (like iTunes/Rhapsody) for digital download or from CDBaby.com. I have created a reputation for writing insightful and moving songs as well as my skills as a guitarist.

One reviewer had this to say about a NYC performance: "There's a calm surety about his touch, no youthful angst and histrionics here, just an inexorable voice that bores deep from his experience into yours."
"Kevin is about as fine a guitar player as you'll ever hear. He is capable of getting a great tone out of both electric and acoustic guitars." - 20th Century Guitar magazine, Sept. 2003
"The Road Home... is one of those few albums where I can honestly say I like every number. It's hard to pick a favorite." - Good Times Magazine
"In a time where even the singer/songwriter is wrapped up in plastic and processed like government cheese by the industry, there are still saving graces out there who write songs that are both lyrically and musically intelligent. Kevin McLeod and his solo CD debut, "The Road Home", falls within this "saving grace" category." - Space Junkie Magazine
"I have followed McLeod since his days with the jazz/pop and instrumental duo 'DeStefano & McLeod' and thoroughly enjoy the new CD." - Aural Fix Communique
"If youre going to go for an earthy, stripped-down sound without fancy production work, your songwriting skills had better be good. Fortunately, Kevin McLeods got that covered. " -Indie-Music.com review of McLeod's "The Road Home"
