About Me

COLONEL first started out when Dave Molyneux’s guitar teacher Mac decided that it was high-time Dave get into a proper and serious band. Dave spent time searching through friends with little reward finding no musicians suitable for forming a band. At a gig in mid 2006 he was re-acquainted with a friends from his junior school years Chris Dadswell. It turned out that Chris was also a student of Mac’s and Chris soon became involved in helping to set up a band. He recommended Dave to his friend Sam Foster. Sam had, and still does, play in various other bands and was a very accomplished musician of grade 8 drum standard. As luck would have it ANOTHER student of mac’s who played bass was free for a band position; his name was Jack Chandler. Jack also seemed perfect for the job and a meeting between the boys was arranged.Instantly Dave, Sam and Jack all clicked well, both musically and personally. Jack and Sam providing a powerful rhythm section with a real groove and energy heavily influenced by the funk and soul influences in both their styles. This provided a nice contrast to Dave’s more blues and rock influence style of playing, The boys, as cheesy as it sounds, learned alot from eachother in the coming months and their styles began to mesh and created their own sounds.Over a period of about 9 months the boys balanced, jamming, composing, schoolwork and various other personal commitments aswell as trying to squeeze in free time when they could. Over this time due to largely a lack of productivity tensions began to rise within the band, eventually leading to the band seperating. After a good long cooling off period the boys got back in contact with eachother and after putting things into perspective agreed to give it another go; this time with a much less naive perspective on things. Unfortunately, by this time Jack had other commitments with his band Space-Cake. Dave and Sam now embarked on a rather frantic search for a bass player of Jack’s calibre.Early 2008 Alex Rembridge joined the band. Alex managed to fill the gaping whole where Jack had been with seeming ease. Alex was tried out and was instantly accepted by both Dave and Sam. Since Alex joining the band the band have been working on there own material aswell as covers of classic songs of the genre. The band are in the process of polishing off a number of their own songs both instrumental and with vocals. At present Dave and Sam have been assuming the vocal roles, however, the band are currently on the look for a proper singer to take on the frontman role.If you would like to contact the band please do so on [email protected] Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com! Band Members: Dave - Guitar and vocals- Dave is lead guitarist in our band, his style is very much blues based with touches of rock, country, jazz and funk in his playing. At the moment he is playing grade 7 guitar (just throw that in for a quick brag)

Sam Foster - Drums and Vocals- Sam provides an extremely prowerful rhythm section (though admittedly not represented well by the solo on funky woman lol). Sam plays grade 8 drums and has played in various other bands.

Alex Rembridge - Bass - Alex is a very talented Bass player mainly focussing on playing Funk. The newest member of the band adds a great Funk Bass line to give the real style to the sound.

Sounds Like: Hard for us to put a label on our own sounds really. Bluesy funky rocky jazzy jamming? naa that doesn't work really. Well bandwise probably a sort of funky Cream i guess, there is a strong zeppelin infuence in the rythm section and Stevie wonder is also right up there.
