About Me

Hello.I am a female music manager based in the UK though hopefuly someday soon I will get to cross the pond!I am Loraine and my friends tell me I'm one the the nicest women you could ever meet though they also say I always pose in photos.. I'm a total push over I love to help others and I will champion almost any cause. I feel sorry about things I should'nt and try and keep the peace. I'm also guilty of taking things a bit too seriously. I love kids and animals, hate war, injustice and cruelty and try to be the best person that I can. Despite that I am very ambitious and do not like to have the piss taken out of me- so don't mess. I am a singer/songwriter originally from Newcastle upon tyne in England now based in Glasgow, Scotland. I am also a trained actress.Though I realised early on I'd been born in the wrong country to be successful doing the stuff I want to.(Should have been born in the USA)I do plan to get back in to it again and I'm still a total movie buff! However even before all that ,my heart was in music and had found it's way there, as like many ,I had a very tough childhood and found solace and resolution in music. What do I like? well alot of stuff really, so it's probably easier for me to tell you that in the late 80's I was a metal chick, early 90's a grunge girl and after that an indie kid and I've been lucky enough to meet many of my musical heros as I also used to write for a coulpe of local magazine and fanzines in the early/mid 90's. Nowadays, I like to listen to new music and guess what the band in questions influences are- and I'm usually right!I've been in a few bands and worked as a session singer but what I really want is to be a solo artist in my own right. My influences are women like Stevie Nicks, Debbie Harry, The Bangles, L7, Hole,Belly, Julianna Hatfield, Lita Ford, Sheryl Crow (get well soon) Tori Amos, Maria Mckee and loreena Mckennit. My love for rock music meant I spent a lot of time doing the rock'n roll thing- drinking, partying and hanging out in cool places with cool people, aswell as being broke sometimes(even though I've always had a job)cause I needed to save up for studio time, cause I was born poor and because I'm not a 'picked person' (read my blog to find out what i mean by that)When I was growing up I dreamed that if there ever was another event like Live Aid I'd play at it but alas I had'nt been successful enough by that time so that did'nt happen and I did'nt play LVE8. Though ironically I ended up getting married that very day!I don't know why god did'nt want me to be a famous recording artist, but one thing I do know is that I've spent far to many nights in the back of a transit van sleeping on a beer soaked matress to walk away from the music industry without a trace. That is why I am now managing bands. Some might see it as riding on the coattail's of other, but I think I have the passion to play a part in things with my intergrity in tact.I get asked all the time if I want to take on new bands but other than the time issues involved, there is also the fact that you've got to love what they do. Well you would'nt go out with someone you did'nt like would you?The first band I 'fell in love with' are called THE HYPE they are truley awesome and combine elements of every musical genre I've ever been into. You can also find the rest of scotland's beat unsigned bands in my top 8.So hopefully I'm on course to become the most successful female music manager of all time, no disrespect to Sharon Osbourne though, who I do admire- but I really need this!
