About Me
Jon began to develop a love for music at a very young age while singing with his family in worship ministry. When he was just 8 years old, he sat on the front porch of his home with his mom and asked Christ to become the Lord of his life. Since then he has been writing music, and has become an accomplished musician, playing guitar, bass, piano, and drums.
Originally from Illinois, Jon’s family moved to Georgia in 1991 where he began to grow a deeper passion for worship as he became more involved in the music teams at his local church. After graduating high school, he moved to Dallas, TX where he attended Christ for the Nations Institute, and was regularly involved in their traveling and on-campus music ministry teams as well as their media program. He was also involved at Lakeshore Community Church in Rockwall, TX, playing in the adult and student praise bands several times a week. After moving back to Georgia in 1999, he spent the next 4 years serving at several north metro Atlanta area churches including North Lanier Baptist Church, Mountain Lake Community Church, North Point Community Church, and Cross Pointe Church. He also served over 4 years at the North Georgia College Baptist Collegiate Ministry.
Jon has traveled as a full time drummer with worship leaders Chris Orr (2003-2006) and Matt Papa (2006-2008), and has recorded on several projects, including the Chris Orr Band's "Everlasting" and Matt Papa's "Your Kingdom Come" (soon to be re-released by Centricity Music). He has served with organizations such as the Georgia Baptist Convention, SUPERWOW Camps, Student Life Camps, as well as several state Youth Evangelism Conferences, and has had the honor of helping spread the Gospel to Mexico, India, and South Korea.
Now currently residing in Athens, GA, Jon has continued to serve at Cross Pointe Community Church, Athens Church (a North Point partner), 12Stone Church, and The Point college ministry at Green Acres Baptist Church.
Jon has over 15 years experience performing from the stage and leading worship for various audiences, and enjoys combining the theology of old hymns with the passion of modern worship. He has over a decade of experience organizing bands, preparing worship sets, chord charts, and media programs for services of every nature, and is familiar with resources such as Media Shout and Planning Center Online.
Jon’s philosophy on worship is based on the words of Romans 12:1 and 1 Peter 4:10-11. He believes we should be diligent in everything we do to present ourselves approved to God, offering our bodies as living sacrifices of worship, and serving wholeheartedly, not for our own name’s sake, but for the name of Christ Jesus and for the glory and advancement of the Kingdom of God.
1 Peter 4:10-11

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
