.. ..As the result of a collaboration of techniques, rhythms and riffs, Ophelia was founded in early '08.
Upon seeing Sam Curtis' (Forever Never) technical and precise drumming ability during a live act, guitarist Callum Horton spotted what he was looking for and anchored him in to lay down foundations in which he could layer his ideas upon.
Adam Paterson (ex-Eastern Front) was then called into the scene ready to hold the riffs steady with his thundering backline and array of Bass Guitars.
Only a couple of months later, the band had an expansive repertoire to show for their hard work, booking their first gig almost instantly. Crisp, crunching riffs and a spectacular rhythm section built up the innovative machine that is Ophelia.
It was at this gig that ex-vocalist Luke Markey unleashed his fury, creating an energetic and lively stage show to which the crowd went crazy for more.
After this gig, it was chosen that Liam Peaston was to add an extra punch to the already forceful and dynamic sound and with several rehearsals, the material was tightened up to a standard ready to record.
Towards the end of June, the final master of the bands first recorded track 'Empires Walk' was completed and uploaded to this page. Just one example of the band's ability to create intense, heavy and energetic music.
Shortly after this Luke left Ophelia, with gigs booked, a replacement was urgently needed. It was at this point that Chris Adam joined and in under three practices is ready to unleash his earth shacking vocals upon an unsuspecting crowd.
Over the christmas period of 2008, certain events led to the departure of Liam. Shortly after, James Dunbar stepped up to the high expectations of Ophelia and quickly brought his unique style to Ophelia and is now an active member of the band.
The band are currently rehearsing regularly, with plans on recording several tracks in the near future. Ophelia are also currently booking shows for the winter / spring. If you would like to get in contact for booking, please Email ...
