I am Dougee Dimensional and I have been a musician since the tender age of 8 years old. I DJ and also sing and I have been involved with a group which I formed called "Gentle People" which started back in the UK in 1993. It all began with a perverse love of the music that nobody wanted to buy. Out of a precarious situation where I no longer had money, I hungered for a place to get my hands on some new music. I had always worked in and around music and I usually was able to get some freebies here and there. This life was a bit different. Left in London without a job for the first time in my life and only a few pounds to spend at the Brixton Market, I found a copy of Norrie Paramours' "Lovers in Latin" and that is where a new obsession began. Lounge Music. Latin Beats. Dig it!!!! I also started DJing around that time as I had met some friends The Karminsky Experience who happened to be spinning at a bar where I was serving cappucinos. It was like a match made in Heaven.Around this period, The Gentle People where born, out of collective of artists and freaks who liked to throw groovy dress up parties. Ms Honeymink and I quickly recruited Ms. Laurie LeMans, a French chanteuse ala Bridgitte Bardot and met up with psychedelic guru/producer Valentine Carnelian and voila, we releaed our 1st single in 1994 on Aphex Twins Rephlex label. People dug it and then of course we released our second ep in 1995. Then of course, came the ever short lived London Lounge Explosion and all of the sudden it became trendy to like lounge music. We were mortified as we loved being into what had up to then, been the most uncool genre of music to be into. Anyway, life moved on, we went to Japan, Germany, Holland, Spain and performed and had a great time doing pop promos, photo shoots, interviews etc.Two albums later and lots of DJing and travelling behind me, I arrived in New York City in late 2002 to start a new life and also move into new directions musically, personally, and intellectually.The few songs you can hear here on Myspace are a collection of demo material that I did with
I Records recording artist Richard Les Crees a couple of years ago. I am currently finishing up a new album with Gentle People which will hopefully come out on I Tunes soon.In the meantime, I have done a variety of guest vocal appearances with Fantastic Plastic Machine-Steppin Out, Mansfield-Take On Me, You'll Never Live Alone, and most recently to be released, an ultra glam rock track by Ursula 1000-Hello Let's Go To A Disco.
