Beth Isbell had her first live performance in 2003. She has only been playing guitar since the late 90s & has become quite proficient in a short time. Since her first public performance, Beth has learned a lot and come a long way to become a very sought after solo performer. For example in 2008, Beth headlined a multi-artist concert for a Texas radio station and recently played at a huge music festival in Atlanta with an average 3-day attendance of over 300,000. Beth also fronts psychedelic blues rock band The Dead Prophets (Dallas, TX), singing, playing guitar & writing most of the band's songs. The band recently released the new "Bonus Edition" CD to some very nice reviews. She has fronted several bands &, in the process, has learned how to rock!
Beth is an accomplished and award winning songwriter in multiple genres. Beth was selected by TAXI, the world's leading independent A&R company, as one of their Top 10 artists/songwriters in July 2008. Her song The Good Woman Waltz went 1 in the Texas Top 40 country chart and was also picked by TAXI in July 2008 as one of their 10 best unsigned songs. While Beth writes in multiple genres, her favorite songs to perform are original acoustic rock pieces – dark, haunting , moody, grungy, compelling and riveting. "I try to deliver my soul to the audience in every performance," and folks are really beginning to notice and connect. She also recently released two solo CDs (Live @ Blue Moon –and- The Awakening EP). Songs from all of her CDs are now spinning on college, community, and internet radio. Her voice has been described by industry professionals as having "a great David Bowie quality" and her performance & writing style as a cross between Neil Young & David Bowie, mixed with the power of Jim Morrison & Janis Joplin. Audiences love the passion Beth brings to her performances ... hopefully you will too!
Beth recently developed a show combining Jim Morrison (The Doors) poetry with her original songs infused with trippy psychedelic mood lighting.
As to being transgendered, it's not a choice, I just am. The bottom line is I'm just more comfortable being female for lots of medical reasons starting from birth. It's taken a while for me to accept who I really am, but I have and really like my new self, I hope you do too. Most of all, I hope you enjoy the music!
The way I think of it is "I'm sort of like Lou Reed with breasts!"
Peace, Love & Light ...
Beth
