Okay, this is only one man's opinion... Firstly, any work experience *at all* will help you in your ambition to become a writer, because you will at least learn about people. Personally, I don't think that working in a bookshop would be any help beyond that. You become a writer by writing, not by wanting to be one. Tough yet true. I'm not saying that you yourself have the wrong idea, but I get more and more mail from people who think that writing is a career like any other, with some sort of defined structure. It isn't. Nor can you achieve it by amassing qualifications.
