RICK ROYALE divides his time between New York, Los Angeles, and relentless touring. He holds a critically acclaimed residency Tuesday evenings, when he is in the city, at a night he started called WhiskeyBreath in New York’s community-de-jour, Williamsburg. Block Magazine describes WhiskeyBreath as “avant-garde” and The Village Broadsheet claims that it is the "stomping grounds for just about everybody who's anybody on the East Village music scene today."
RICK ROYALE, described by Vodka Magazine as an "artist and visionary", has been on the cutting edge of the independent music scene since he moved from Canada to Los Angeles with his rockabilly band The Rattled Roosters in the early 90's. After 4 full length records, numerous singles and compilations, and due to the regional success of later projects like POPism and The Royales , Rick has earned his reputation as a prolific and talented songwriter as well as a peerless live performer.
RICK ROYALE's new record AT THE END OF SUNSET , (popomatic recordings) delivers bittersweet, pop songs reminiscent of the dichotic beauty of a blazing, smog soaked sunset. Catchy melodies and evocative lyrical imagery bathed in ringing rickenbackers and waves of symphonic feedback, comfortably faded by the California sun.
AT THE END OF SUNSET available now at cdbaby or dowload it from iTunes .

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.rickroyale.com
Influences: The Byrds, The Velvet Underground, Tom Petty, Eddie Cochran, The Replacements, The Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, The Cars, Johnny Cash, The NY Dolls, The Monkees, Gram Parsons, Elvis Presley, The Blasters, The Mamas and the Papas, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, The Archies, Lou Reed, Sloan, Little Richard, 60's Motown, Big Star, The Ramones, Jefferson Airplane, Hank Williams, X, Blue Rodeo, Bob Dylan, Phil Spector, The Knack, Buddy Holly, and a bunch of British bands too.
Sounds Like: The trashy jangle of the Replacements with the California cool of Tom Petty or The Byrds and the Rock ‘n’ Roll heart of Lou Reed’s Velvet Underground. Honest lyrics rise above a sound that echoes the classic pop of the late 60’s and early 70's while taking time to stroll the same musical side streets as today’s singer songwriters like David Gray, Ryan Adams, or Pete Yorn.
Constantly pushing towards the future while never failing to recall the past...
