The Ontario Independent Music Awards OIMA ............................................................ ............................................................ ..................................... NOMINATED us (yeah!) for the category Best Blues 2008. ............................................................ ............................................................ ....................................The movie Babel - that John Hiatt forgot some of his own lyrics during the concert with Lyle Lovett (who didn' miss a beat and asked the other three about their childhood and beginnings in music), Guy Clark (check out LA Freeway) and Joe Ely on the 11th of February 06 in the National Art Center in Ottawa is certainly of some consoling influence when you're trying to memorize the new song text you just wrote - that Micheal Jackson had Toto contribute songs to his record album "Thriller" - that my friends had me grassing - grazing - gazing? on some funky grounds back in good old Hannover - that I broke my neck already once - that I just fixed the Cort for real - my friends along the Rideau and my girl-friends in Montreal. ............................................................ ............................................................ ................................radio stations playing our songs:...................................................... ............................................................ ................................ www.ckcufm.com, The Weekend Warm-Up with Pat Moore (Ottawa, Ontario) www.thatradio.com (TO, Ontario) www.thatchannel.com (TO, Ontario) www.lake88.ca/ (Perth, Ontario) www.livelifelive.fm/ (Ottawa, Ontario) www.dolphinradio.com (Kamloops, British Columbia) www.live365.com/stations/breenoble (San Dimas, California) www.tonkuhle.de (Hildesheim, Germany) www.radio-aria.net/aria/ (France).................................................... ............................................................ ............................................. ............................................................ ............................................................ ....................................Sounds tacky but this is what happened: In the late August of 2004 Maren met Scott in St. Hippolyte, Quebec, where both came to chill out for the weekend with some friends. She clicked instantly with the Rock'n Roll singer-songwriter and became an admiring fan of his unique guitar style before the third log was thrown on the campfire. He was infatuated with her versatile style and singing and also with her painted toenails. Both decided to relocate to Ontario to record and produce their own songs themselves. So they went back to Montreal, got more of her sandals and the hell out of the province. Together they wrote lots of new songs, repaired their guitars, bought new mics, kilometers of new strings, about a truckload of milk and and have been playing lots of live shows up and down the Rideau River and Canal (became the only Cultural World Heritage site in Canada in June 2007).The first gig in Germany, for The German Green Party, Buendnis 90/Die Gruenen, on the first of May in 2007 in Berlin, was a huge success. On the occasion of the Tag der Arbeit festival on the Marianenplatz PEACEWORK was able to test a huge German audience (10 thousand? probably... have look at the videos).CD production summer/fall 2007 Knowing and admiring BovaSound from a previous cd production (Chances We Take, with the Free Souls), Scott decided to refresh that contact. That way, PEACEWORK ended up producing their songs through lovely people with genius abilities - Phillip Victor Bova, the father on bass, and Philip Shaw Bova (just quit the Hilotrons), the son, on drums. It felt like some Holy Ghost descended on us not much later when these kindhearted pros drew other geniuses to contribute (Pierre Chretien from The Soul Jazz Orchestra and Brian Tansley on sax)........................................................ ............................................................ ......................................... © PEACEWORK 2007 ............................................................ ............................................................ ..........................

Sounds Like: Something else. No, really. We sound like acoustic guitars jumping a freight train, two voices delivering the perfect crime, a blues harmonica circulating the edge to outer space.... We marinate all that in the fertility-soaked swamps of the Canadian backwoods, roll it over some groovy rhythms, stick it to the man with some funky riffs, and transzend it over gospel-hot ’n-holy back vocals. We also like sipping lattes. Have a cigar.
