About Me

I always loved music; who hasn't? I started plinking around on the piano at age 4, mimicing my older sister probably (who is a gifted and accomplished gospel pianist and classical flautist). My mother, rest her soul, was a gospel singer possesed of an operatic (soprano) quality of voice, so I was exposed to a wide variety of music at a young age. The family would go out to see other choirs and to plays, and I got to see and hear lots of different types and interpretations of things, which made me want to play something. So, with my ma in support of her boy, perhaps to keep me out of trouble, I took piano lessons around six, and like most six-year-olds, hated them! I did three or four years, though, and while doing that also took up the (here I go revealing my nerdiness) clarinet. I continued on the piano to this day, in earnest, learning about the joy of melody for melody's sake. Not a very structured study picture, but I found out that I could, with increasing success, play anything that I heard with a high degree of accuracy. I had an aptitude for something that wasn't a sport! Imagine my joy! Throughout, I stayed with the clarinet and saxophone for 15 years and continued to develop my 99.9987% ( I check all the time, and it erks the HELL out of me!) perfect pitch thing and picked up the guitar at eighteen and truly fell in love with the instrument that I really should've been playing in the first place!! It was so shockingly easy to acclimate to, and so inherently logical to my fingers, that I felt that I had been playing it the whole time that I spent on the other instruments. So, hopefully, here I am to perhaps share some of my musical journey with whoever is willing to lend an ear. More to come! Please be patient as I am new to this website thingy!! Thanks for indulging me by reading my wordy self-report! Music is on the way! Ricardo
