About Me
Well it’s all thanks to Tom for creating the wonderful world of Myspace, and while searching for local bands I came across She’s Got Issues. I kid you not from that moment on I haven’t stopped tapping my foot, and man I got it so bad, every time I close my eyes I can see their faces.
The thing is the backbone to the band is two stunning young women, Tiffiny Townsend & Rachel Sinnetta who got together at the back end of 2007 after meeting on Myspace.
Both girls are from Wiltshire where they still live today, Tiffiny from Swindon, and Rachel from Amesbury, and the fact that they live 40 miles apart has not hindered them in coming together like a crash of thunder to form She’s Got Issues, and just like thunder rolling they're churning out some fantastic tunes.
Believe me these girls have the voices of angels but the horns of the devil, I’m not joking for one minute when I say they have the look of a princess but the attitude of pit-bull chewing a wasp, yes these girls have got attitude and are not afraid to let you know it.
In January 2008 I was lucky enough to be invited to Tiffs fathers studio in Swindon to sit in on a days recording, and to tell you the truth, I’ve never had goose bumps so many times in one day, and it wasn’t just the music, these girls even wear sunglasses in the winter, and the fact that I couldn’t see their eyes made me feel like they were punching a fist into my stomach and twisting my gut to make me listen to there music, then when I least expected it they took off the glasses to reveal eyes to die for, and with a very slight grin and a pin dropping silence for 4 bars they both spoke out in unison “do you like itâ€. Well I felt my backside squeeze, and replied “Holy shit I thought I done something wrongâ€.
So now it was time for a talk with these two truly gorgeous girls to find out what makes them tick and talk they can, but only once they cracked open the bottle of Jack, and I tell you now they like to drink, and when I think back now that can’t be a bad thing, not when you see how much it helps open the mind and come up with some great meaningful songs & music.
Well its clear to see music has been pumping through their veins from the day they were born, and both girls have been playing and singing in cover bands for as far back as they can remember.
So with this in mind I asked Tiff to tell me a bit about the days before she met Rachel.
“Right then, I played in covers bands for years but my first original band was the SheBeats which I learnt to play drums for coz at the time there wasn’t any girl drummers about, so I thought fuck-it I'll give it a go!!(I’m thankful for it now because I couldn’t have formed She's Got Issues) the same goes for playing lead guitar really coz only dabbled with guitar a little bit before. It was good while it lasted and I met and worked with some amazing people like Steve Levigne who made a dream come true for me, it was thanks to Steve that recorded us in ABBEY FUCKIN ROAD STUDIOS BABY! He's a good man and I can relate to him as he doesn't take any shit from people who screw him over. Anyway that’s all behind me now, It’s time for She’s Got Issues now, we both write all our own songs and play all the instrumentation on the recorded tracks which is done in the caravan at the bottom of my garden. No one else is involved, we produce everything ourselves too with a bit of well appreciated help from my Dad and the use of his Fostex B16 reel to reel,Old School!! It sounds funny when it gets cold! Oh yea and we have to bake the tapes which is always quite worrying but they seem to work fine after!
I managed to get another word in so I ask where they get there inspiration from, and off she went again, but this time with some help from Rachel.
“Well we both grew up listening to Soul, Motown and Rock n Roll music which was nice! Tina Turner, Blondie, The Pretenders and of course The Beatles, A big contrast I KNOW! But, that’s all good….. and we're are glad. We like to drink Jack Daniels and Red wine! Yummy... that’s not a bad thing!. We don’t pretend to be good girls (which we are not) we have a lot of attitude and are not afraid to use it!. We wear sun glasses whether it’s sunny or not!! Is that a crime?? I think NOT!. We both been through a lot and have" ISSUES" so we are gonna turn our issues into REAL music... its a release! we don’t care who does and doesn’t like it, we are doing it for our own benefit and if people can relate to it then great!. If not, then fuck em. HaHa!.â€
Well all the time they were talking I was sat in a daze; it was like everything they were saying was going straight over my head, I could feel my teeth chilling from my breathing, and I thought to myself, I’m sat here with my bottom jaw dropping.
I’m telling you now, you can’t help but sit and listen when these two have something to say, and that also come across in there music, I love them, I think you will too.
