About Me

George Malliaros was born on March 29th, 1968, in Athens and grown up there. At the age of 14 bought his 1st guitar and start playing and learning all by him self. On the summer of 1987 he formed a band with his friend Kostas Melachrinakis on guitar and his cousin Panagiotis Kokorogiannis on drums, just for a live concert at their home village Agii Theodori, Almiros. They called the band “Alifes” and with two days rehearsals they prepared a 2 hours set and they give an unforgettable concert at their village. On 1988, during his studies in university in Patras, he met Sarantis Kostakis and they formed “The Mayday Overdrive”. During the rehearsals, “Sticky D” stuck on him due to how he was calling his favorite distortion sound, with boosted mids. Soon , The Mayday Overdrive had fanatic fans as well at the local scene as at the Salonica’s and Athens’ ones due to their pioneer music and the raw and full of energy sound and playing, and Sticky D was starting to make a name for himself with his smart and unique style. Influenced by many of the great rock & blues guitarists like J. Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Tony Iommi, Slash and many others he developed his own personal style, through the Mayday’s music, where he had to stand for the rhythm and the riff/ lead part of the guitar at the same time. When Sarantis joined the army on early 1993, the Maydays were not playing for a while and Sticky D joined “The Camel Cries” a newly formed band, by his cousin Kostas Mouzourakis (songwriter and vocals/rhythm guitar), his brother Kostas Malliaros on bass and Christos Kountsouros on drums. His lead guitar parts and orchestration ideas gave a big impulse to the band which gave several concerts in Athens, Lamia and at Almiros area. On late 1993 Sticky D joined the army where he infected it with the Rock ‘n’ Roll virus! Along with his other duties, he participated in the army bands where he was playing and singing rock songs at the officers parties…! When he left the army, on 1995, the Maydays got together again, but not for long. They had to be apart when Sticky D left Athens and moved to his parental land at Agii Theodori, Almiros. They gave their last concert at the Pantheon Theatre, in Patras on February, 1996. The Camels went apart, due to the army obligation, too. On 1996 Sticky D moved to Volos, where he was playing guitar at several clubs there. Since 1998, he’s been working as an electrical & industrial automation engineer, but he never stopped playing guitar. When he discovered the capabilities of home recording with just a PC he started to get into recording, writing his own music, with his own sound. On 2007, he was asked to play at a concert at his village, as a lot of people wanted to live the moments at the Alifes’ concert again, after 20 years! He formed then the “Sticky Flees”, a cover band, with Fotis Tabas on vocals, Alexis Zorbas on rhythm guitar, Vassilis Papantoniou on bass and Aggelos Triantos on drums. Zorbas could not stay in the band any more and Thanasis Bravos has been playing the rhythm guitar since Feb' 08. Right now, Sticky Flees are working on their own music.
