I am here for Friends

About Me

"We know no time when we were not as now; Know none before us, self-begot, self-raised By our own quick'ning power," This profile was edited with FearKiller's Pimp MySpace 2.2

My Interests

Nihilism. Cooperative economics. Social theory. Progressive economic, social and political practice. Critical pedagogy. The role of the public American intellectual.

I'd like to meet:

Girls, mostly. And other people too I guess. Interesting people though, they must be interesting. Perhaps someone who knows from whence this comes: "M'amour, m'amour, what do I love and where are you? I have lost my center fighting the world. The dreams clash and are shattered. That I have tried to make a paradiso terreste." Or perhaps I'd rather meet someone who would call me on the pretentiousness of quoting obscure Modernist poetry on myspace.com pages. There's probably a whole lot more of the latter...

Music:

Yes, lots of different kinds played loudly.

Movies:

Not as much as when I was younger. Kurosawa is my favorite film maker and frankly I don't take American cinema very seriously.

Television:

Don't watch TV. But I do like the NBA.

Books:

I dig Bret Easton Ellis. And I like other people too, mostly Europeans with an eye towards explaining complex ideas.

Heroes:

Batman if we're talking Justice League, Iron Man if we're talking Avengers, and Jack Kirby if we're talking creative geniuses.

ideal readers part two, or why saying "that's fucking stupid" is often the only way to begin

how does one read? what I'm wondering is how does one relate to the information (and even qualifying it as information is already to assume much) one encounters by way of reading... I'm thinking abou...

ideal readers... and stuff like that, part one

so, I'm planning on weekly updates... sorting through things I'm thinking, working out ideas... the intellectual's notebooks in a public forum. what's funny of course is that no one will actually be i...

paying more attention to my online persona

Yes, that's what I'll do. Pay more attention to my online persona for awhile. Everyone seems to be doing it, now me too. More later (and that will be later this week, not later this year).
