Biography
It's July 2006 and singer/songwriter So Be On Fire, AKA Josh White, has just written a song. Inspired into action by the loss of a close friend, Josh has written 'This Time I Promise' an almost painfully emotive piece vividly detailing the reality of loss, longing and the inspiring, enduring power of friendship.
Fast forward two years and Josh is sitting in his student flat in East London. News of the fatal stabbing of Robert Knox is spread across the papers. Inspired once again, Josh pens 'Paint the Flag and Fly It' a rail against the insistence of the British news to paint an entire generation with the brush of violent thuggery.
Such is the modus operandi of this exciting young talent – an unerring ability to take inspiration from the world around him and turn it into instantly catchy and emotive songs. Accompanied by an acoustic guitar and some massive lungs, Josh has been taking his songs out into London’s buzzing open mic scene for a couple of years as well as a number of summer festivals.
Heading into a new decade, it seemed like a good idea to get some songs out to a wider audience. With the help of Leeds label 32nd Records, So Be On Fire’s Singles Club was born, releasing a song each month for the duration of the year.
Beginning with 'This Time I Promise' in January, Singles Club features 12 beautiful tracks of acoustic wonder.
