Comprising Lorne Cousin, Steve Sidelnyk, Ted Hutt and Sean Spuehler, Dram! Was formed to stretch the boundaries of traditional bagpipe music and reconstruct it for a universal audience never before reached.
Having made their first live appearance at the launch of the Dewars Academy of Whisky in Shanghai, China in August 2007, the band is now based in Los Angeles and is available for performances worldwide.
Here is a little bit about the guys:-
Lorne Cousin : began playing bagpipes at the age of 6. Inspired by his grandfather, taught by the late Pipe Major: Tony Wilson, who arranged and performed the pipes and drums for Wings' massive hit " Mull of Kintyre". His father, a renowned vet, tended the McCartney's cattle. Stella and Lorne struck up a friendship which led to him playing the pipes at her wedding. There he was spotted by a wee lassie called Madonna who promptly recruited him for her 2004 Re-Invention world tour. Lorne was also appointed ambassador for the Princes Trust ; ( HRH the Prince Charles ). To add to these list of achievements he was also voted sixth on the most eligible 100 list in the Scotland on Sunday newspaper!
Steve Sidelnyk : Bradford born Ukrainian lad has played with : Madonna , The Verve, Massive Attack, Primal Scream, The Style Council, Aztec Camera , Craig Armstrong among many others. His hobbies include : scuba-diving, football, running, dog-walking and he is a huge subbuteo enthusiast!
Ted Hutt : orginal guitar player and one of the founding members of Flogging Molly. Producer of warped tour faves : Bouncing Souls, Flogging Molly, Street Dogs, MXPX, Chuck Ragan and Go Betty Go! He has a red sparkle Gretsch guitar and a formidable collection of hats and sunglasses!
Sean Spuehler : started playing violin at the age of 3!!! Worked with : Blur, No Doubt, Madonna, All Saints, Limp Bizkit. Has a degree in political science. Attended full sail recording school. Enjoys : golf , tennis and dolphins who pilot space-craft!
Robert Flam : inventor of the guru tassell! Organised and conceived Dram!'s successful trip to Shanghai, China in the summer of 2007 for the world unveiling of the Dewars Academy of Whisky! He is an exponant of the ancient style of wu-chi and owns many custom suits!
