About Me

David Loris is a California born singer, songwriter and composer currently dedicated to multiple projects. Born September 25, 1977, he spent his childhood in Egypt and Italy, where he attended British schools, studying piano and composition and singing in choir from a young age.
He returned to the United States in 1995 to attend Brown University where he began playing guitar and writing songs, drawing on the influences of Lou Reed, David Bowie, Beck and Radiohead in particular, and developing a style highly rooted in acoustic music and un-traditional vocal styles. After graduating from Brown with a degree in Economics, David returned to Europe to live in London. During this period he discovered Beat Poetry, in particular the work of William Burroughs and Jack Kerouac, leading him to experimentation with stream of consciousness poetry, a style that endures to this day in his approach to lyric writing.
After a few years in London David moved to Milan, where he began to record his own music - at first using only a laptop, an inexpensive microphone, and some free plug-ins. While in Milan he also completed a Masters in Corporate Finance, though he still found time to continue writing and to develop his skills as a composer, producer and engineer.
In 2006 David moved back to Rome to study musical composition for film. During this period he also began working on the material for his debut album as a singer songwriter. At this point he teams up Fabio & Marco Locurcio and the three of them produce and arrange the entire album. They are also joined occasionally by celloist Danny Bensi, guitarist Marco Velluti and violinist Alex Mingrone. The album "Floating Away" will be released shortly.
