Flavio Sala, born in 1983, is considered the new classical guitar star, acclaimed by critics and public for his extraordinary technique and his outstanding musical sensibility and creativity.
First Prize at the "XXVI Concorso Internazionale di Gargnano" (Italy, 2001), XXXVI Concorso Internazionale "Michele Pittaluga" (Alessandria - Italy, 2003), Audience Vote at the "San Francisco International Guitar Master" (USA, 2004), XIV Concurso Internacional "Alirio Diaz" (Carora - Lara State - Venezuela, 2006), winning here the "Fundacion Vicente Emilio Sojo" Special Prize to the Best Performance of Music from Venezuela.
Flavio Sala has been giving many concerts and tours in Italy, Austria, Spain, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Russia, Venezuela, Brasil, Uruguay, Argentina and United States, playing in prestigious concert halls and theatres (Tchaikovsky Concert Hall - Moscow, Leopold Auer Hall - Bloomington, Teatro Bonci - Cesena, Teatro Alirio Diaz - Carora, Palazzo Venezia - Rome, Hermitage Theatre - Saint Petersburg, Conservatory in Vienna, etc...), as soloist, in duo with flamenco guitarist Juan Lorenzo and with orchestras (Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino, Orchestra Milano Classica, Orchestra Sinfonica Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, State Hermitage Orchestra, New Russia Orchestra of Jury Bashmet, Primavera Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfonica de Venezuela).
He was born in Bojano (Campobasso, Italy) in a musical family. He studied with Pasqualino Garzia at the “Lorenzo Perosi” Conservatory, where he graduated with full marks, first-class degree and honourable mention. Since 1998 he attended the International Master Classes of "Accademia Musicale Chigiana di Siena", held by Oscar Ghiglia, obtaining every year the diploma for merit and the grant of the Foundation. His meetings with Alirio Diaz and Paco de Lucia have been encouraging and inspiring.
His recordings, "Flavio Sala Live at the Hermitage Theatre" (MAP), "Encuentro" in duo with Juan Lorenzo. "Mi Alma Llanera - Music from Venezuela" (FelMay / Egea International) have been acclaimed by international critics.
Flavio Sala recived the "Best Talent Golden Guitar" during the XI International Guitar Meeting in Alessandria (2006).
He plays an instrument built by the italian guitar-maker Camillo Perrella ( www.camilloperrella.net)
