About Me

Mathieu started his musical education with classical piano and solfege when he was 7. His studied classical piano in the Rixensart'Academy for 13 years with Marc Gillot. He studied also classical guitar for 4 years and classical percussion and drums for 5 years.
At the age of 18, he discovered Jazz music and decided to go to the "Jazzstudio" in Antwerpen. He studied piano and drums there for 2 years with teachers like Ewout Piereux, Jeremy Calbert, Bas Coijmans, Joe Higham, Marek Patrman...
In 2004 he entered the "Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel" to follow the class of Diederik Wissels. He will stay there for 3 years before going to the "Lemmens Instituut" in Leuven in the class of Ron Van Rossum.
Trough the years, he has followed many different workshop and stage with people like Erik Vermeulen, Ivan Paduart, Paolo Radoni, Peter Hertmans, Weber Iago, and so on...
In 2007 he has the opportunity to participate to a multi-ethnic cultural exchange with student from the "Suksasongkraw Maechan School" in the north of Thaïland. He performed this project, " Celebration " at Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theater in Bangkok. This project keep on going between Thaïland and his band, "Belch'Quartet".
He is today active on the jazz scene in Belgium in many different bands and context.
