Although Tara only remembers seeing pictures of her young and newly wed parents, this bright singer/songwriter/performer clearly remembers the drive and dedication of her parents to make a better way of life for their family, which appears to be what resonates the most today in her own career path. It is no wonder Tara grew up understanding the true meaning of business and the nature of retaining a competitive spirit as part of her gift.
Born Tara Jaclyn King on February 13th in Evansville Indiana, her family recalls their infant daughter trying to sing along with such artists as Chaka Kahn and Earth Wind & Fire as early as the age of 9 months. Tara’s father John recalls, “Music had a big influence in our home. We always had music playing, it amazed us how she would always try to sing along with Chaka at such a young age — before she could even talk, then from there on Tara would do anything to perform in front of whoever would listen, she always seemed to be searching for her audienceâ€.
Tara would go onto attend school where she was actively involved in anything musical or athletic: track, swimming, performing in school plays, choir events (school and church) and talent pageants throughout her school years, as well as making Home Coming Queen her Senior year of high school. However, once high school ended she was prepared to branch out into the world of music. Even then Tara knew she needed to set goals in order to advance to that next level ….
Shortly after graduation Tara was asked to move to Atlanta GA where she began working with one of the “all time†greats, Peabo Bryson. Went onto participate in a summer tour with the NBA, performed at All-star Weekend, the T.V show Showtime at the Apollo receiving rave reviews in NYC. She competed and was crowned Jacksonville Idol; thereafter opening for American Idol on tour. Also participated in some major films and television sitcoms doing extra work in Los Angeles, CA and Miami, FL.
From there on the opportunities began to open up for Tara, going onto work with artists, writers and producers; such as: Shawn Fischer (Mandy Moore), David Ruffin Jr.,Derek "D.O.A." Allen (Janet, Tyrese, Angie Stone), Juanita Wynn, and Manuel Seal (Mariah Carey, Usher, Janet,), to currently working with producer David Anthony (Deborah Cox, Janet, Daphne), and Aleese Simmons (Britney Spears, Christina Milian). In addition she has also had the opportunity to work with dance choreographer Jamaica Kraft (2007 Best New Video MTV), Tara states “working with Jamaica was a real blessing."
Who would have known that all these professional and life experiences are the very elements that have brought this young artist to her “here and nowâ€, with such worthwhile accomplishments and relationships adding up to Tara evolving into “ a true artist and entertainer ready for today’s marketâ€, and the rest remains to be seen and heard…
