About Me

After nearly a decade of fronting the seminal Detroit-based rock band Devil's Nite, August has created his own instantly identifiable sound, having mixed vintage harmonies, melodic song structure and his four-octave vocal range.
On the demos you hear, August wrote every song, sang every note and recorded every instrument. For better or for worse, it's all him. Says August about the process, "With Devil's Nite, I had great musicians to work with every night, and the alchemy we had led to some really outstanding songs. Still, there's something refreshing about being able to get your music out unfiltered, with its original vision intact. What I might lose in technical proficiency at some of the instruments, I feel that I gain an equal amount in playing for the song. Besides, I'm not good enough at some of those instruments to have an ego about it."
August is actively seeking a professional, working musical project to sink his teeth into. Serious inquiries may reach him here at his MySpace page, or at [email protected].
At this point in his solo career, August has about 70 songs that are either finished, nearly finished or just aching for him to record them. There's no telling what type of song August will put on this website, as his songwriting is as varied as his influences are. But he hopes you enjoy them and stop by regularly.

Look back, then look at me now - do I look like I've suffered a setback?

As a peace offering for being so tardy since my last post, I bring you not one, not two, but three things in an attempt to make you laugh.  Or at least chortle.  Yes, I'll accept a good mirthful chort...

How different the past looks through an older pair of eyes

Greetings, all.Ah, the holiday season.  Commercialism aside, I still love it.  There's a hint of sentimentality left in these bones, and I do hope that it never goes away.  In a cold and cynical world...
