Basic Black was an R&B quartet from Atlanta, Georgia comprised of Darryl (Denzo) Adams, Walter (Dis Mucho) Scott, Lloyd (Spec) Turner and Kelvin (K.B.) Bradshaw. The group had a sound that was similar to that of Guy, and was the creation of Gene Griffin. The group was formed as Griffin's attempt to establish himself after separating from long-time partner Teddy Riley.The group's self-titled debut album was released in 1990 on the Motown label .
