In Summer, Autumn and Winter 2008 SPRINGBREAK!! presented 28 gigs at the Croatian Wickham Sports Club in Newcastle. Starting out in on Valentines Day with DJs Carl Dixon and Chris Hearn and Sydney's Naked on the Vague live at a Bowling Club over $20,000 in debt, Springbreak sustained it's existence for 7 months of every Thursday night, into the Croatian Clubs financial success and eventual ruin by Rugby Players, Blues Bands, and other leeches. Plus the occasion Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. We brought you national underground treasures such as My Disco (Melb), Fabulous Diamonds (Melb), Justice Yeldham (Syd), Toxic Lipstick (Bris), & Dead Farmers (Syd); created a stage for underappreciated Newcastle greats to play to an audience that cared such as Brassskulls, Casiogloria, Alps & Unfit for Human Consumption; and also showcased some top international acts such as Daniel Menche (USA), Vialka (France), and Batrider (NZ).
Now it's almost Spring. So we are on springbreak. Sorry to be conceptual wankers. Don't fear - we are stilling running the odd gig here and there. Check the calendar. And keep your eyes and ears open - big and amazing things are coming in the very near future...
