Lt. Janis Alicea, Starfleet Command

About Me

My name is Lieutenant Janis Alicea, and I am proud to follow in my father's footsteps as a Starfleet officer. I was born on Earth but spent most of my early childhood either on a Federation starship or far flung starbase. I was eleven years old when I lost my father to the Borg in the battle at Wolf 359. He is still officially listed as missing in action, but I hope to God he wasn't assimilated.
After the Borg were defeated, my mother and I moved back to Earth. Mom had grown weary of the Starfleet life, and after my father's death she wanted no part of it. She hoped that I would settle down to a peaceful life on solid ground, but all I could think about was how much I missed Dad and the times we shared seeing the amazing wonders of the galaxy.
I graduated 21st in my class at Starfleet Academy, and after a brief training tour on the U.S.S. Courageous, I was assigned to the U.S.S. El Dorado as junior communications officer. During the three year voyage, I learned a great deal from my superiors and crewmates. At the end of the mission, the captain recommended me for promotion and consideration to be assigned to a hazard team.
After leaving El Dorado, I was promoted to lieutenant, junior grade and transferred to Starbase 173, where I was assigned to a research team testing new field equipment for Starfleet personnel. During that time I also went through hazard team training. After a year, I was awarded my hazard team certification and was assigned to U.S.S. Valiant. At the end of my hazard team tour, I was promoted to full lieutenant and transferred to the U.S.S. Sovereign, where I served for the next three years.
Currently I am assigned to Starfleet Headquarters, San Francisco, Earth, where I serve on the staff of Rear Admiral John Bowers. I also serve as an operative on certain special missions on behalf of Starfleet.
