In a time when everything from counterfeit fashion to jewelry has flooded our community, it is rare to find a genuine product even in soul music. Miami Native Micheal “Mikey†Sanford is that refreshing rare, with a voice that can not be counterfeited. This young singer, songwriter, vocal arranger, and producer has been involved in music since he was 5 years old singing in the school choir.
At the end of 2003 Mikey began producing for football star Phillip Buchannon and his Man Up Records imprint where he had the chance to work with Trick Daddy, B.G., Turk, and Pretty Ricky. Unfortunately, none of the songs that Mikey worked on were released with the exception of “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number†released by Blue Star and Atlantic Records artist Pretty Ricky which he assisted with the vocal arrangement. Mikey’s next venture was working with miami based independent label Musikboxx as an in house producer along side production partner Diplomat where they formed the Royalty Music Imprint.
Now, signed to the Royal Star Entertainment label Mikey is finally working on his own project, combining all of his talents. Mikey is an artist that knows who he is and knows what he represent, and he definitely is not afraid to tell you. The out spoken soul singer is definitely ready to show you why he feels that he has something to contribute to the R&B and Pop Genres. “I’m raising the bar and setting creative standards in music†says Mikey and you will hear the quality in the production, the writing, and the vocals.
