About Me

TELEFUNKER
The two ingenious Finnish artists behind Telefunker, who prefer to be called Uku and Rammu, seem to have endless resourcefulness when it comes to making quality music.
They started making tracks early in the beginning of the 90's, and later took the common name Industrial Chaos which is the name they carried on with most of the time. In 2004, birth was given to the Telefunker project.
Telefunker's sound is very "techno" in essence, but clearly fuses styles such as electro, hiphop and ambient to create something that could be called a lush and textureful blend that is IDM. Text by Metrotraks Records
Metrotraks Records (sublabel of Symptom Records during years 2004-2007) released Telefunker's debut album Elektroakustik and it was digitally distributed by ForYourEars.Com.
Currently Telefunker is unsigned and at the studio making new tracks. Stay tuned!

THIS INTERVIEW IS FROM JULY 2004 SO IT'S QUITE OLD. ANYWAY, WHO CARES. ENJOY!
TELEFUNKER INTERVIEW by METROTRAKS RECORDS
July 2004
Textureful blends of IDM, electro, hip-hop elements and ambient music in a tight skillful package. You have been Telefunked. It's music that grabs you out of the dull reality into a world of its own and makes you forget the passing of time. This is a brief glance into the thoughts of the two people behind it.
1. Who-the-Fuck-Are-You?
Rammu: Chaos.
Uku: Machines. Telefunker. Laitinen Markus, "Uku".
Rammu: And Mikko Ramula, "Rammu".
2. Who is the bad ass of electro?
Rammu: Ralf Hütter, Florian Schneider & co.
Uku: Yeah, I think it's the Kraftwerk boys that are the baddest of them all. Also Aux88 makes some nice tunes in the electro biz. Plenty of them.
3. What about hip-hop then?
Uku: Everything old-school, especially Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five. Cypress Hill while they were younger, meaning their earlier production, yeah and Beastie Boys from the beginning 'til the present day, they haven't lost their touch a bit.
Rammu: Haven't got a 1 favourite in my mind. First came Cypress Hill and Beastie Boys, and then Ninja Tunes and old-school tracks later on.
4. Who would be your dream warm up band?
Rammu: Kraftwerk would be quite nice.
Uku: And Britney.
5. Do you feel like you are misunderstood artists?
Uku: I don't think there even exists any "misunderstood artists", more like artists who misunderstand and think too highly of themselves, living up their artistic lives drinking red wine and wearing berets. No I don't feel like that. The world is full of different people and different preferences, some like electro while others like trance.
Rammu: No.
6. Will you stop making music if you hear it on MTV?
Rammu: We've been doing this in our own style right from the beginning so I don't think we'd stop ... if we would be so unfortunate to break through.
Uku: Yeah. Staying "underground" isn't the purpose for us even if our music doesn't happen to sound like pop music. But if MTV would want us, then sure, we wouldn't say no. But if not, that's not a problem, we'll continue doing our own thing anyway and appreciate any interest in us.
7. When was the last time you thought "Fuck it, I'll just start making trance!"?
Uku: Well..
Rammu: Once, drunk.
Uku: Oh yeah, I remember that one now.
8. Obligatory gear question: Roland System 100 or Native Instruments Reaktor? Which one do you prefer?
Uku: Both hardware and software have their pros and cons but if I'd have to choose between those two it would definitely be System 100, if I could get my hands on one ;) Analogs and playing with modular systems is always nice.
Rammu: Neither :) S100 would be cooler but haven't seen those for sale around here. The Swedish little red devil Nord makes a good replacement for the modular thing.
9. If Madonna would ask you for a remix, how would you answer?
Uku: Hmm.. didn't she change her name to Esther? Well, if Esther would come for a remix, of course we'd say yes. That would be fun, we'd get to try something different for a change.
Rammu: If William Orbit agreed, I think we could too.
10. When was the last time you felt: "Damn, music can be made like that too!"?
Rammu: When I saw a German "techno-band" on the telly playing with vegetables.
Uku: Each and every day.
11. Lingerie can be sent for you to address... ?
Uku: No thanks, already have enough of them.
Rammu: Yep.
Uku: On the other hand, please send the lingerie to Jari "Hutsi" Huttunen, if that would compensate some of your help in different musical matters :)
