Luca Reale is born in Chieti the 4 th January on a very snowy evening. After the adolescence dedicated to the study of music he is getting closer to photography with 18 years, after terminating studies of painting in the I.S.A. (Institute of Arts) Chieti, making experiences with professional equipment. Most of all he is doing reportage and prefers to print black and white.

Thanks his passion for photography and cinema he frequents and terminates in Rome in 2003 a course of professional and authorial formation of cinematographic photography under the leadership of Maestro Marco Pontecorvo (A.I.C.), and cinematographic directing by author Daniele Segre. In 2005 coming back in his home region he gives live to an independent Film and Video Production called EffettoNotte. 

Since january 2007  live in Berlin. 

 

 

Experiences

Before transferring to Rome to collect cinematographic experiences he is the scene photographer during the theatre representation in languages of the D’Annunzio University Pescara.

He is also realising several personal photo projects.

During the first year in the course he follows the casts which the A.I.C. (Association of directors of cinematographic photography) is doing in Cinecittà comparing the new technologies of digital HD shooting with the traditional film. He discovers that the modern technology can’t compete with the “material” which let live the film while shooting and while reproducing the surrounding reality.

 He is participating as a second cameraman for the shooting at the national manifestation in Rome the 23 rd March 2003 next to Maestro Mario Monicelli and Maestro Marco Pontecorvo (A.I.C.). (Luna Rossa Production).

  He is scene photographer by the shot of the short film “Ore2: Calma piatta” with John Turturro, the first time that Marco Pontecorvo (A.I.C.) is directing and director of photography is Roberto Meddi (A.I.C.), the short film is participating in the festival of Venice 2003.

In the two years between 2001 and 2003 is he cameraman and director of photography for short-/ movies. He realizes several works during the cinematographic course of Daniele Segre.

 

Realized works

The following are the most relevant

 Between 2003 and 2004 he is shooting as an author a movie-documentation about some voluntarily social workers in an elementary school which is situated in an emarginated quarter in the city of Eboli. Produktion EffettoNotte – color – mini DV/S8

In 2004 is he the director of photography and cameraman in the movie “Nina”, from which the author is an artist from Naples Gianluca Mattei. Production “Asanisimasa Napoli / EffettoNotte” – color/black-white – S8/DVCam.

In 2005 is he the director of photography and cameraman in the movie-documentation “Che anno é, che giorno é ?” (which year is, which a day?) with regard to the earthquake in Campania in 1980, Vito Aita is the director. Production EffettoNotte – DVCam – color

In 2006 is he cameraman in the short movie “Le soldat Serge” from Jacopo Gandolfi. 16mm Color

In 2007 edited the film "Il segreto-the secret" directed by Dino Viani Projected at the Festival for directors of photography "G. Di Venanzo", and at the Opencinema festival in S.Pieterburg . Production StimmungFilm-  Stimmungfilm, and a short movie by the same director .
