About Me
ItaloBeatBoy=
"Italo":
this part of the name is inspired by the best music period ever, so called Italo Disco in the beginning of the 80s and nowadays Italo Dance, Eurobeat and/or HI-NRG...
"Beat":
this part of the name is inspired by one of the alltime favourite and very early HI-NRG song "Hit that perfect beat" from Bronski Beat and additional from the fact, that beats are the basis of every lovable disco/dance song...
"Boy":
this part of the name is inspired by one of the alltime favourite Italo Disco song "Bad boy" from Den Harrow and of course inspired by the great and unbelievable Pet Shop Boys!...
I started buying and collecting music in 1981.
In 1983 was my first contact to Italo Disco with the original version from Miko Mission "How old are you?" and the Italo Disco Collection Vol.2 from ZYX.
This was the starting point of my music career.
Since this moment my collection has been growing and growing...:-))))))
At this time in 1983 and the following years the Italo Disco scene has lots of big hits with
100 000 copies (and more) sold only in Germany from for example Gazebo "I like chopin", Ryan Paris "Dolce Vita", Fun Fun "Happy Station" and "Color my love", Righeira "Vamos a la playa" and "No tengo dinero", Valerie Dore "The night", "Get closer" and "It's so easy"...Ken Laszlo "Hey Hey Guy", "Tonight" and "Don't cry", Savage "Don't cry tonight" and "Only you", Miko Mission "How old are you", "The world is you" and "Two for love", Martinelli "Cenerentola", Moon Ray "Comanchero",Eddy Huntington "USSR", Hot Cold "Love is like a game", Silver Pozzoli "Around my dream", Taffy "I love my radio"...
Great producers and/or teams like for example Turatti/Chieregato, Farina/Civellente, Zanni/Cundari, Martinelli, etc. involved the Italo Disco scene, followed by a lot of other great artists/producers, etc...
great labels like MEMORY Records, TIME Records,etc. followed by FLEA Records, ARD Records, etc....
For old fantastic songs like "Keep on living" from OXO you have to pay collector prices at the moment € 2000, Gatsby "Love sign" € 700-800, Black Sin "New fantasy" € 800,00 to get an original vinyl copy.
Great releases from for example Styloo "Pretty face" and "Miss you", Ryn'o, Topo & Roby "Under the ice", Joe Yellow, Squash Gang "I want an illusion" and "Moving your hips", Marce "I want you", Fockewulf 190 "Gitano", Dario Dell'Aere, etc. made this time so unforgettable...
I INTEND TO ADD AND COMPLETE THIS PART OF THE STORY OF ITALO DISCO STEP BY STEP IN THE NEAR FUTURE!...;-)
Den Harrow sold over 1 000 000 from the first single "Mad desire"...Scotch had 3 big hits with "Disco Band", "Delirio Mind" and "Take me up", My Mine "Hypnotic tango", Albert One "Secrets" and "For your love", Fred Ventura, KOTO "Visitors", "Jabdah" and "Dragon's legend", Spagna "Easy lady", etc... stayed several times with their singles over weeks in the German charts
It was the great Italo Disco time with concerts from Den Harrow and Radiorama in Germany 1986...
In 1987 there were the last big hits of Italo Disco in Germany like Sabrina "Boys, Boys, Boys", Den Harrow "Don't break my heart" and Radiorama "Aliens"
This was the break in the history of Italo music.
New styles like Italo House started in 1989 (Black Box "Ride on time", 49ers "Touch me", FPI Project, etc ...) or HI-NRG (Dave Rodgers and Mauro Farina and the Team Accatino/Rimonti were most of the time the "heads" behind the productions...)
At the end of the 80s the Italo Disco music (100-120 BPM) began to get faster (125-145 BPM), still written/produced from the same Italo Disco musicians/producers and grew up called "HI-NRG" music (until 158 BPM), first in Italy (new Labels like A-BEATC, HRG, ARD, etc.) and then it started with the success (only) in Asia and Japan (Super Eurobeat compilations, Para Para, etc. ...).
Followed in the mid 90s by labels like DELTA, Vibration (LED), TRD (AV)...
...HI-NRG is still alive!...
...mostly only as digital releases from for example HRG (HI-NRG Attack albums on itunes and lots of 12" versions on juno), DELTA records (Eurobeat Masters Vol.1 -20) on juno and itunes; DELTA records (Eurobeat Masters The Missing Files Stage 1-3) on kazzong, AKYR records (lots of 12" versions on juno), since a few months VIB (Vibration Records), Eurobeat Masters (LED Records)and the and brandnew the label Energy Revolution (LED Records) with all versions from 12" releases on juno, too!...and the Maestro himself, Mr. Mauro Farina, has now started to release the HI-NRGs from his legendary label Asia Records (ARD) on www.junodownload.com in WAV format, too!
And on his label website www.saifam.com are all releases from ARD, BBB and Beaver Records, but only on 192kbs format, available.
The Super Eurobeat series exists since 1990 and has just released as a CD release the Vol.199 has just been released in early July 2009!!!
Every month there is a new fantastic release with brandnew HI-NRG songs from A-Beat, BBB, DELTA, SCP, LED/VIB, GoGo's, DIMA, SinclaireStyle and nowadays again like the first releases from SEB all titles in great extended versions!WOW!!!!!
...so stay tuned for new infos about SEB here on the site and in the monthly blogs!
In the early nineties there were still a lot of live concerts and Italo Disco parties in the Netherlands with for example Fred Ventura, Scotch, Max-Him, Cruisin Gang, Alan Ross, Fabian Nesti, Den Harrow, Ken Laszlo, Brian Ice, KOTO, Laserdance, etc. ... and the first live concert ever from the "Italo Heros" Mauro Farina and Guiliano Crivellente (who made for example Radiorama, lots of TRD Records, lots of FLEA Records, ARD Records, etc. ... at least 1500 Italo Disco Maxisingles and over 100 Italo artist albums/compilations!!! and now Mauro Farina is the head of the SAIFAM Group in Italy)
At the same time in the early 90s the first beginning of so called "Italo Dance" music started with Da Blitz, Bliss Team and Prezioso from the nowadays called Bliss Corporation in Torino...
Da Blitz had with there first 5 singles 5 no.1 singles in a row in Italy, which was a new sales record!.
Starting 1990 first releases by Mato Grosso "Neverland",followed by " Thunder","Jungle","Mistery","Moai" and "Sonehenge" and in 1993 Ava & Stone "Bye baby", followed by "All Aboard" and "Yeh Yoh" marked early milestones until today for Italo Dance scene...
Double You started his career with the coversong "Please don..t go".
Other Artists like Alexia, Ice MC and Corona or Double You "Please don..t go" were written and/or produced by the great Roberto Zanetti (so called ROBYX from his label DWA), which was one of the biggest heros of the Italo Disco period under his artist name called SAVAGE (1983 "Don..t cry tonight", "Only you", etc.) with success all over europe and in the world.
DWA released lots of fantastic songs, from which were most releases in the meanwhile until € 100,00 worth.
Playahitty "Summer is magic" was born in 1994 and is still an extraordinary Italo Dance classic.
Co.Ro. "Because the night" was another big hit at this time...
I have visited in the early 90s all the offices and recording studios from Italo Disco and HI-NRG productions in Torino (Bliss Co), Milano, Allessandria (HI-NRG Attack), Mantova (A-BEATC), Modena (FLEA Records) or in Brescia (FARM Productions, TIME Records), Lugagnano (SAIFAM, CNT, etc. ...) and talked with the producers/musicians Mauro Farina, Guiliano Crivellente,Giancarlo Pasquini, Alberto Contini, Federico Rimonti, Claudio Accatino, Andrea Leonardi and lots of others (artists like Ian Lex/Styloo/Ryno...)...and with the company chiefs like Severo Lombardini (Discomagic), Toni Verona (Ala Bianca) and many other important persons like Luigi Stanga (LED)...
At this time I was mentioned on a few records (Chris "Over the sky", Radiorama "Your love" and on the 1981-2000 CD-Box "The Golden Years" from Farina/Crivellente)
With the growing interest in Italo Dance music in the early 90s there were lots of new producers, artists, musicians, labels, etc. ...
In the middle of the 90s there were not so much big selling hits of Italo Dance in Germany, but of course still great music, because after the period of Italo House and Italo Acid 1989-1992 (Black Box "Ride on time", 49ers "Touch me", FPI Project "Rich in paradise", Starlight "Numero Uno", etc.) and with the beginning of Italo Dance in 1992/1993 a new music style grew up: "Dream Music".
Artists like Robert Miles "Children", DJ Dado "X-Files" had big selling top hits and Roland Brant "Nuclear sun" was a milestone for these music style.
JK Lloyd had several album releases in Italy on Discomagic and Gigi D' Agostino appeared in the italian music scene with wonderful dreamy melodies, warm beats, strings and wavesynths.
The Dream Music style was a highlight of this decade.
At the end of the 90s it began with the european success of Eiffel 65, Gabry Ponte, Prezioso, etc. and followed by newer acts like T 42 feat. Sharp, Paps..n..Skar, Danijay, DJ Sanny J, Luca Zeta, Stefy NRG, Kim Lukas, Neja, WEB "Loving times", etc. ...
In the present there is more great Italo Dance music than ever!
Fantastic Italo Dance lables like for example Disco Planet Records and BIT Records are still releasing lots of great new acts and songs...
There is a great and unbelievable radio station on the web, called IDN (Italian Dance Network, www.italiandancenetwork.com), which powers Italo Dance 24h a day, 7 days a week, and so on;-)...
Another great radio station is located in the Netherlands, called Fantasy Radio (www.italo.nu) and powers the original Italo Disco sound 24h a day, 7 days a week, too!!
Two great radio stations for all Italo lovers all over the planet!
Nowadays I am a lawyer with my own office.
I have a small recording studio in ItaloHeaven, in which I am able to make music or remixes, until now only for my own, but who knows what is happening with my music in the future;-)I am still collecting original Italo Disco releases and Italo Dance releases, too.I hope, that I will find the time in the near future to create my own big Italo homepage with lots of pics, covers, stories from the good old days and hopefully good future days,too!:-))))
The story will be continued...
Best regards to all Italo lovers out there and all over the world!
