24 year old Anglo-Eritrean singer-songwriter Desta has lived in Thailand, Barbados, Côte d'Ivoire, Jordan, the UK, Belgium and Brazil. She speaks English, French, and Portuguese fluently.She began her professional music career in 2003 and has toured in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Tunisia, Russia and the UK for various projects. Desta has shared stages and/or studios with artists Michael Bublé, Lara Fabian, Zap Mama, Baloji, Mylène Farmer, Pablo Andres, Sir Samuel (Saïan Supa Crew), and Silverio Pessoa among others.Recent gigs include an 11-night residence at Longtable, in The Sofa Hotel in Istanbul, a performance at The Sheraton Hotel in Cesme, Turkey, and a New Years Eve performance in London.Desta’s band, The Elements, are a ten-strong group whose musical influences are as diverse as their origins. Based in Brussels, members hail from Belgium, Colombia, Spain, Indonesia, Holland, Ghana, England, Eritrea, and Chile. This has given her the opportunity to lead music & theatre workshops with hundreds of children in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, London, Geneva, and Munich.
