The Andy Griffith Show

About Me

Sometimes I think its a shame that The Dillards are only known as The Darling Boys from The Andy Griffith Show. Yes the show played a role in their success, but trust me, there is way more to The Dillards than the Andy Griffith Show. Doug Dillard has been called one of the greatest banjo pickers to ever play the instrument, and enough cannot be said about Dean Webbs abilities on the mandolin. In the early 60s, the Dillards made the move from Missouri to California. Success came almost instantly with a record deal as well an opportunity to guest appear on The Andy Griffith Show. Over the years, changes in The Dillards lineup would take place, Doug would leave to do great things in the world of music, Rodney would keep The Dillards name and the band together. Today, although Mitch Jayne has retired, Dean Webb is performing in Branson Missouri with the Missouri Boatride, and Rodney and Doug continue to perform. Go to The-Dillards.com and find a show near you. You will leave the show very glad that you had the privilege to see musicians that are very loved and respected by so many in the world of music.

Band Members: First off, let me say RIP Don Knotts (1924 - 2006). Thank you for a lifetime of great great moments of laughter and for portraying one of the greatest characters in the history of television. There aren't many things that take priority over an Andy Griffith episode especially with so much negative and morally questionable television these days. So many life lessons can be learned from the show, mainly how to treat one another. How does a person watch the same episodes over and over and over without ever tiring of them? I guess the show just touches a part of us that we respond to and find very inviting, that has withstood the test of time. The Andy Griffith Show has always been a constant in my life, I truly love the show . "Old Aunt Mariah, Jump in the fire, Fire too hot, Jump in the pot, Pot to black, Jump in the crack, Crack to high, Jump in the sky, Sky to blue, Jump in canoe, Canoe too shallow, Jump in the tallow, Tallow too soft, Jump in the loft, Loft to rotten, Jump in the cotton, Cotton so white she stay there all night.
