Influences: My influences like my taste is a broad palate of sound and color.
My earliest influences were from my mothers record collection and old movies featuring many great singers such as: Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra and my personel favorite Mel Torme;
then the Beatles landed on our shores and I was changed forever. There was Eddie Kendrick, David Ruffin, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Chaka Khan and Lambert Hendricks & Ross.
The next great epiphany in my musical life was: Mr. Donny Hathaway! Simply remarkable!
As a songwriter my influences are: Lennon/McCartney, E.John/B. Taupin, Smokey Robinson, Charles Wells, Brian Simms, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, Mozart, Beethoven and Elmer Bernstein.
As a musician my biggest influences are: Jimi Hendrix, Segovia, Al DiMeola, George Harrison, Brian Simms, John Bonham, Chic Corea, Lecuona, YoYo Ma and Harry James. But how does one really, recite the makings of oneself? Well for me I say simply,... "Listen to the music Baby!"
