About Me
My name is Tashay Wiggins bka Bea B. I was born in Detroit, MI May 24, 1985. My family and I have traveled across the country which allowed me to always have an open mind. When I was nine years old my Uncle Fred discovered I really had talent, when everyone else would tell me to “stop that racketâ€. He had a church member to come to the house and give me some vocal training. Two weeks later I had my first solo in the church choir.
In 2001, my family and I went to Duluth, MN. That is where I met Pastor Author Foy of St. Marks African Methodist Church. I instantly got involved with mostly all the churches activities. Like choir, step team, and helping out at the after school program. Pastor Foy made time to teach me how to harmonize well with a group and myself on his personal time because he said I had something. I had lead parts in the choir from my first rehearsal.
In 2002, my family and I moved to Jackson, MS. I attended Lanier High School my final 2 years. That is where I had the choice of being in the school choir or the band. For the love of music I tried out for the bands flag corp., since I didn’t know how to play an instrument. I made Co-captain my first time ever turning a flag. I also sang hooks for local recording artist, danced behind them and did voiceovers on the local radio station. I started to write short stories, poems and lyrics. I then began to showcase my talent, I won first place in high school talent show and second places in the All-City Talent Showcase and The Debutante Ball 2002.
In the fall of 2003, I attended Jackson State University where I was apart of the Gospel Choir. This is the year that changed my life forever. I found out that I was pregnant with my son. Everyone was telling me that I was making a mistake by keeping the embryo but I didn’t care I was thinking with my heart. I withdrawaled from the University in February 2004 and had Treveon J’Aran Wiggins that April. My Pastor Foy past away that year which affected me in a great way. That September I got a call that my Dad pasted away and my grandparents sent me a ticket to come to Detroit for the funeral.
In late December 2005, my son and I moved to Houston, TX with my family. I began to start a new life. I went to a local technical school and earned a diploma for Medical Assisting. Even though I loved to help people I still was not happy inside. I began to jot down encouraging words and poems to keep my spirit up. I met a friend that had original tracks and he let me write to them. I instantly went to work. I wrote two songs in three days. The friend loved it but didn’t follow through on his part. I didn’t give up. I started to write songs without tracks.
In late 2007, My God brother, B. James, came down from Detroit and brought ten tracks with him. He let me write to the ones I liked. My mother saw how serious I was about my music so she purchased everything I needed to record with my brother, Precha Boi, engineering my music. After recording my demo I jumped in the industry head first. I became a member of the Urban Zone, a place where local Houston recording artist network, and began doing local club talent shows.
With music bottled up in me, I focused on being a mother and raising my son. Over the course of four years I have been in and out of relationships, homeless, but never hopeless. I did what I had to do to make a life for my son and I, even when I had no one to turn to. I just kept myself grounded and focused on what I wanted to accomplish. With a new sound, style and attitude I have become a Phenomenal Woman. I have a positive outlook on life and looking up towards the sky. So look out for me in city near you. Cause it's on......
