Big bug's basement is not a band as such, it is just a couple of friends doing what they do in Big K/Bug's basement.
So I am Big K, I'm originally from this little country in central Africa called Cameroon. Although I visited many countries over the years, I spent most of my youth in Cameroon going to private strict catholic schools, from primary to boarding secondary.
How I got into music? My uncle Jerom, considered at some point as the black sheep of the family, both wrote and listened to a lot of rap music. He way also a very good dancer and was very smart especially when it came to thinking on his feet. I'd always wanted to be just like him, so i followed him around as much as I could, and considering he is only 10 yrs older than I am it was pretty easy, or was it... Thank God my other uncle Jeff, who was only 3 years older than I was addored Jerome almost as much as I did, so we did almost every thing together.
When I got to boarding secondery school, I met a few rap enthusiasts to say the least. They mostly liked dancing to it, and every year, we organised some form of a talent show, inviting the female boarding school over for a day of festivities, so I became a rather good dancer and coreographer.
I have been said to have a photographic memory, so during the long hours of preps every day, I always felt uterly bored because I almost always didn't need to revise what the teacher had taught us that morning. Considering this, I decided one day to start drawing in an exercise book of mine; I got caught and punished, and by punishment, I mean I got my ass wooped. Not to worry, it was standard punishment in my school. So instead of drawings, I decided to write rymes and from writting rymes, I found out I could SPIT RIMES.
With this revelation, I wrote something new almost every day, i rapped for my friends just for fun, I went to a couple of rap contests, did a few street battling, and a few school shows, then I met Mannie, or EA Freddy from background movement, in Denmark. Back then he called himself Mannie Monolo, and he had this thing going called the monolo fam. It was tight we did some stuff together, did some shows, then he left for London. The other group members including peeps like M-ran and Vakili went different ways each doing their own thing but keeping in touch.
So here I am dear reader doing my own stuff in the Big Bug's Basement!
