About Me
Hip Hop, Rap, Spoken Word, its main focus, its main reason for existance was for a cry for change. The hope and dream that one day people would wake up and listen to the cries of a people seeking more, seeking truth and most of all seeking justice. The integrity of the art form has been bought and sold, it has been corrupted by the media portrayal of the center of Inner City life as sex, drugs, violence, and loose women. We have so many talented people using their talents to exploit music as a politician exploits democracy.
Eva "Scheharezade" Hernandez-El Fayed Is the epitome of Artistic Elevation, A Strong and Beautiful Egyptian Woman who seeks to bring integrity and truth back into urban art forms. Born in Cairo, Raised All Over Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and South America, Shaped By her American Home of the Bronx, and defined by nothing. Now residing in Paterson, NJ, her devotion and dedication to lifting her voice and sharing her talents have become a priority second only to her beautiful family.
No stranger to the systems of government and exploitation, especially concerning military lifestyle, as her exposure to the Marine Corps, through her husband, has provided many eye opening experiences as to the ever present class system that remains so prominently in this country.
Her philosophies and ideas can be categorized by 5 principle beliefs:
1. That people are beautiful and we should want to spend the rest of our lives in the struggle for liberation and freedom with the people of the world. Working class, marginalized communities, and people of color.
2. We can transcend gender roles and stereotypes as long as our mind is not conditioned by oppressive forces. Freedom lies within our mind. As long as we know who we are, societies superficial standards and obsessions are below us. We write our own destinies. Conformity is for suckers.
3. We should want to continue to spend our lives traveling and exploring so we can understand and gain compassion for people that we feel alienated from. The people that make our t-shirts in China. The people who cut our fruit in Mexico because...
4. The only reason that we get to enjoy some of the highest living standards in the world is because by living in this country we support the oppression of more than 80% of the entire global population.
5.The material things we own don't own us, at any moment, we should not feel imprisoned in a comfort-zone. Life is waiting for us all.
Through meeting people, collaborating ideas, and furthering her skills as a writer and lyricist, Scheharezade seeks to be apart of this generations revolutionary movement. From New York to Cairo, From London to Mogodishu, we are all part of something greater than ourselves, urban arts are the linking method that can connect us all, music, spoken word, can become the vessel for change. With all the negativity Scheharezade has encountered, you would think she should be bitter. Tired of being tired.. but she remains optimistic, absent of the belief that it is ok to stigmatize people for thier differences. We must not blame people for thier poverty or ignorance. Many people redirect thier anger and frustrations at the wrong people instead of considering historical and socio-political factors. We must celebrate diversity and always be aware of practicing tolerance. People have the right to self-determination without the occupation, exploitation and dominance of another group telling them what they need. This Is Scheharezade's dream for a new world, the world in which she wishes for her children to grow up in as children are the light of our lives and our faith in change and in the possibility of revolution. Change does not come from the belief that we can do nothing, it comes from the idea that everything is something...
