Hi, we are the INDIEGIRLS, two singer/songwriter/guitarists, Tory Cobb and Mary Podd, and we come from the Halesworth area near Southwold in East Suffolk. We have been playing together for about 4 years with a band and now, as a duo, for just over a year. We both enjoy composing and performing our own lyrics and music as well as putting our own style on compositions from other artists.
We formed our first school band whilst taking part in the Amplifier Project based in Halesworth and subsequently qualified for studio time at a local recording studio where we recorded our first demo, and went on to play the following festivals and theatres; Gig in The Park, Halesworth (Suzi Quatro) the first Latitude Festival (Zutons, Snow Patrol) on the Junior Stage, set up by Rock Lobster Studios in Southwold. The Wolsey Theatre Ipswich, The Norwich Playhouse, The Norwich Arts Centre, Gig in The Park (Echo & The Bunnymen) and Latitude 2007 (Jarvis Cocker, Damien Rice, Magic Numbers, Arcade Fire).
INDIEGIRLS formed as a duo in October 2007. We have a style, which is best described as Acoustic Melodic Pop and our musical tastes range from David Bowie to Radiohead, Magic Numbers to Regina Spector and Jason Mraz, amongst many others, and hopefully these influences can be heard through our melodic acoustic guitar riffs and lyrics.
We currently perform at local pubs and bars around the Halesworth and surrounding areas, including the The Chequers, Bungay, the Angel, Wangford, The Bay Tree Bistro in Halesworth, as well as The Crown at Burston, the Railway Inn at Aldeburgh and the Weybread Crown, and venues in Norwich, Ipswich, Lowestoft and Gt. Yarmouth. We have also appeared on local radio www.blythvalleycommunityradio.co.uk on the Steve Moyse show and have had some of our tracks played on BBC Radio Norfolk on BBC Introducing.We have recorded a six track EP CD, called “Vanilla”, which was recorded at Rock Lobster Studios in Southwold; some of the tracks can be heard on our site here - hope you enjoy!!!!
Recording has just finished on our second demo EP and some of the tracks will be on our site soon!!!!
