Roberto Isaías Biography and ProjectsThe CD named A Ponte (meaning “The Bridge”), recorded in Brazil and consisting on 12 musical tracks, is the suggestive title given to the debut album of the Mozambican vocalist, interpreter and composer, Roberto Isaías.This wonderful work has been the fruitful result of the long-lasting cultural exchange between Brazilian and Mozambican musicians, a visible sign of it was the formal invitation made by Niteroi Prefecture, through the Municipal Secretariat for culture of the Arts Niteroi Foundation for Roberto Isaías to record in Brazil.Along side with Isaías in this journey were the following Mozambicans: Nelton Miranda, Paulo Matabel and Samito Matsinhe. Putting this in the context, the name A Ponte symbolizes the cultural link between stages, staves and people playing and getting together. Means cultural diversity enriched by music and people.Niteroi Foundation coaches a cultural project which is aimed at strengthening and enriches the cultural intercourse and relationship in the music sphere within the global broader contexts of Africa, America and Europe. Music performance, stages, staves and workshops involving musicians from all around the three corners have been the main menu of this cultural program.Particularly to be mention here, the invitation made to Roberto Isaías by Marcos Gomes and the celebrated and unmistakable Brazilian bassist Arthur Maia (notable participation in the track with the name Lalane of Roberto Isaía’s CD), who deserves credits for the launching of the First Instrumental Niteroi Music festival (NITEROI MUSIFEST INSTRUMENTAL), held in Niteroi.Famous American Bassist Marcus Miller, for sure one of the best in the world in this discipline, Mozambican singer Chudy Mondlane, based in Nova York, and Argentina Linda, took part in this memorable festival. The bridge of all of this unique experience was honored by the Brazilian music star and minister of Culture Gilberto Gil visit to Mozambique, leading the project Aquele Abraço (That Hug). Gilberto Gil performed in two concerts in Maputo and the funds collected in the shows where donated to two non-profit humanitarian children associations: Rede Da Criança and Kindhlimuka.Participation and MembershipRoberto Isaías is an activist and founding member of the Mozambican TraditionalMusic Band Kapadêch, from which he grew up and became known nationwide.
