What happens when legendary Hip-Hop veteran Dj Motiv8 heads up a group of young talented artist? Well look where the Black Eyed Peas are today and you will see.
2009 marks a new beginning for Project Live.
This West Coast based group consisting of a Dj/Producer and Percussionist has come to be one of the newest most innovative, creative, pioneering groups to come out of the west coast. With a unique mixture of Hip Hop, and Electronica, Project Live brings out the hardest hitting sounds to the dance floor by adding live drumming to the element of surprise. Being amongst the most skillful and talented artist in the business, Project Live elevate the game every time they step in front of the turntables and a drum set by bridging the gap between underground electronics to mainstream pop music.
When Rh Factor from The Universal Scientist and Kendrick Harmon of STOMP met, the two formed Project Live shortly after. The idea came about when Kendrick was invited to a club night that Rh Factor had in Las Vegas. The idea of mixing electronic music with Kendrick’s live percussion was a concept the two wanted to build on. Since then the two have become in contact with fellow Universal Scientist and Black Eyed Pea, Dj Motiv8.
Motiv8’s role became important as he added the leadership and veteran production skill that the group needed to launch into the main-stream circuit. The chemistry between the three have inspired fresh new ideas and perspectives, fostering a powerful alliance that would give birth to an artistic collaboration. Whenever time allows (from touring + side projects), Project Live hit the studio to experiment, construct, and re-define a new fusion of musical style and visual sound that puts them aside from today’s average artist.
The concept behind Project Live was to form a group around sound that is comprised of blending many different and diverse elements. Project Live sound* is electro-organic fusion with stabs and kicks from a multitude of genres: A hybrid of modern day electronic music with Hip Hop and house roots. Similar to how the Black Eyed Peas** use funk and soul mixed in with modern pop and hip-hop influence.
* Project Live sound is backed by MOTIV8's industry known "electro-organic sound," fused with Rh Factor Kendrick’s blend of drum breaks and synthy techno pads. A hybrid of modern day electronic music and Hip-Hop; and integration with Jazz-fusion and funk elements.
While doing DJ gigs amongst the west coast club circuit and engaging in a multitude of sideline projects, (including work on solo albums), Project Live continue remix projects with artists such as Black Eyed Peas, Divine Styler, and E-swift from Alkaholiks. By all standards, Project Live are on a quest to breakthrough barriers in music and comprehensively re-shape the sounds of the mainstream.
