Her freshman effort Paint My Heart White, released in March 2008, has gained the attention of an audience reared on folk and alt-country influences like Neil Young, Gillian Welch, Patty Griffin, and Ryan Adams.
Today, Emily lives in New York, working toward an MBA under the mentorship of writer/ marketing guru Seth Godin .She'll return to the GA in MAY 2009EKB recorded Paint My Heart White at 800 East Studios in a remarkable six days, where producer/ aritist Clay Cook engineered, mixed, and performed on what he calls “a dark Joni Mitchell albumâ€. Special guests who added their talented voices to the album include: Adrianne, Nate Borofsky (of Girlyman), Vanessa Olivarez, Nicholas Niespodziani and Mark Cobb (of Y-O-U), and Shawn Mullins.
Born in a small town Ringgold, Georgia, Emily Kate Boyd got her first try at live performance in the living rooms and cafes of neighboring Chattanooga, Tennessee. Following her move to Atlanta, EKB recorded Wonder EP in 2006 with producer and songwriter Molly Bancroft. Bancroft and Boyd co-wrote Red Dirt Diaries that same year.
