Flava Music Records was launched in 1990 and quickly established itself as the top tribal and dance label in America, documented by a host of awards. For the next five years, Flava Music released singles at a quick pace, yet managed to maintain its high level of success with hit after hit by artists such as VButterfly, La Mariposa, Ceevox, Demarko, Ashlee, Tanya Montgomery, Thea Austin, Twsited Dee, Mike Da Wizard, Miss Flava, Ronn Williams, Madonna, Vanessa Valentin, Mr. Dee & the list goes on & on.
Flava also revived the long dormant tribal dance format, first with its first release titled " Hold Me Closer " (selling hundreds of thousands of CDs & Wax to true club music fans without the help of ANY radio support), and the hit driven Addicted To My Music compilation which racked up sales of well over 90,000 units including digital sales.
Such success did not go unnoticed and attracted many of the best and biggest producers to Flava Music Records today from many other parts of the world like: Brazil, Mexico, Cuarcao, Venezuela, Colombia, Ibiza, Puerto Rico, Miami, CT, Boston, Canada, California, Chicago, Chile, Amsterdam & New York City.
Flava Music is also the creation of PuertoRican DJ / Producer Mike Da Wizard from New York City. MDW's talent is recognized across the music industry and he is the first port of call for many an artist wanting the “Tribal Drum MDW Sound†on their releases. Thoughout the years, Mike Da Wizard has been comissioned as a remixer by a wide range of international artists such as VButterfly, La Mariposa, Ceevox, Demarko, Tanya Montgomery, Mr. Dee, Chico feat Ashlee, Madonna, Susan Palmer, Twisted Dee, La Mariposa, to name but a few.
When the time came to take the step to the next level, Flava Music was ready and eager to do it. First release “Hold Me Closer†under Animus Records (Italy)/ Flava Music Records with full understanding of what is needed to make people dance and truly enjoy a song from beginning to end . Flava Music has also released the incredible “Respect Me†featuring Mr. Dee under Flava Music/ Loop 128 Records (Portugal), and released another sensational contribution to the club world, “Addicted To My Music†featuring Miss Flava, which was a huge success in Brazil & Latin America. In addition, Flava Music collaborated with DJ Demarko Centaur Music / Global Groove Records and released an incredible remix of Beyonce’s “Naughty Girl†with sold many units worldwide. Flava Music also collaborated with Liza Records on Thea Austin’s “Broken Wingsâ€, which climbed all the way up to a 12 on the Billboard Dance charts and Joi Caldwell’s “Freedom†which climbed all the way up to 9. The title “ Leavin U†Chico feat Ashlee has reached the Top 20 on the Billboard charts in June 2006.
The success of Flava Music has taken Mike Da Wizard to producing his very own album "Addicted To My Music" & "The Addiction To My World", and this year Flava Music releases an amazing track titled " Bailando" feat La Mariposa with eight remixes that brings together any dance floor world wide. Never afraid of pushing the music to the limit. This release delivers Latin House/Tribal Rythems, Heart Pounding Synths with a Salsa infused breakdown that you can not refuse but dance your heart out on any dance floor.
