LEAD ME FROM IGNORANCE TO TRUTH, FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT, FROM DEATH TO IMMORTALITY...As I look around and see the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, followed by squandering. An entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; like slaves with white collars. See advertising has people chasing cars and clothes, working jobs they hate to buy shit they don't need. We are the middle children of history. No purpose or place. We have no great war. We have no great depression. Our great war's a spiritual war. Along with our great depression being our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, movie gods, and rock stars. And the older you get the more you begin to realize, either you’re a failure or just a disappointment to yourself. See life is a binary state of 1’s and 0’s: you are either worth something, or you are worthless. The vast majority of people are, in fact, worth something, but there are those who, against all odds, and indeed their own nature, repudiate their inherent worth. If you think I'm being over reactionary with that statement, allow me to point out that, far from not mattering in the grand scheme of things, how we act when granted absolute anonymity and virtual freedom from reprisal is a very effective measure of who we are, as people. I strongly admire those who have the compassion and sense of self to communicate across lifestyles in order to become friends and comrades with those around them. The foundation of communities in the absence of any real negative stimulus toward them is a great sign that the human race is, in fact, evolving into something better, however slowly and painfully that evolution may occur. Some people, however, represent not only a static trend; a retrograde, but a deevolution. See life can be either a gift or a disease; the path to the end is only up to you
