I hope you enjoy. ************************************************************ ****Erika Kapin is a freelance violinist originally from Seattle, currently residing in New York City. She performs regularly around the city with singer/songwriter extraordinaire Matthew Brookshire(www.matthewbrookshire.com). Erika appears on NY based artist Haik Kocharian's(myspace.com/haikkocharian) album "Heaven", is working with M. Brookshire on his future release, and is also involved with various other jazz, folk, rock, contemporary classical, and middle eastern music projects. ************************************************************ **** Erika began playing music under the tutelage of a wonderful Suzuki method teacher. After many years of classical music studies, she took a brief sabbatical from the violin. It was the discovery of improvisational music and jazz that led Erika back into her joy of music. During this time of rediscovering the violin and being introduced to jazz, she was blessed to study with the great violinist Michael White.Erika moved to NYC in September of '05 with the intention of playing, listening to, and immersing herself in music of the jazz family. One year after arriving she began her studies at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary music. She is currently studying there and has had many excellent teachers such as Rob Thomas, Jan Ira Bloom, Cecil Bridgewater, Richard Boukas, Bill Kirchner, Harel Schachel, Charles Tolliver, Jimmy Owens, Andy Mckee, and many others. She is currently very happy to be studying with fabulous violinist John Blake.This journey of music is filled with love, hard work, inspiration, healing, challenges, communication, expression, discovery........and every bit is delicious!
