Introducing the Man, the Myth...the Legend - DJ Shakesphere…
DJ Shakesphere aka DJ Sphere, was raised amidst the early phase of the Hip-Hop era. Born William Bryant Jennings in the South Bronx, the Mecca of Hip-Hop, Sphere was inundated with Hip-Hop culture. Like most kids growing up in the inner city streets of New York, Sphere manifested his love for Hip-Hop through self expression. He embraced break dancing, graffiti and faithfully listened to the blaring sounds of key playmakers like DJ Red Alert, Kool Herc and the infamous Afrika Bambaataa, in the early 80's & 90's.

The creative mix of rhyming lyrics and syncopated beats infused with snare drums and synthesizers stirred a new curiosity for Sphere. His surroundings became influential as he began to become more in tune with music. He began to feed his hunger for music by learning to play several instruments namely, the trumpet, piano, guitar, flute and xylophone. His early encounters with “traditional music” sparked his interest as he began to recognize the sounds of many of the instruments, in some of his favorite Hip-Hop songs.

In 1996, Sphere’s love for music, specifically Hip-Hop, changed everything. It was the beginning of DJ Sphere and the birth of a DJ style all his own. His trained ear for music and adept ability to recognize “crowd moving” beats proved to be a sure recipe for longevity. It was the Dinerbar on the Upper Eastside in Manhattan, that served as the starting point of Sphere’s career.

Now, with an excess of 10 years of experience under his belt Sphere has undoubtedly earned the right to be called a master on the wheels of steel. Headlining at NY’s infamous hot spots like The Tunnel, B 52's, Speed and Justin’s; to name a few, proves Sphere is recognized by his peers as an industry leader.

Additionally, Sphere has had the opportunity to showcase his skills and expertise at several monumental events including; the Zulu Nation Anniversary, the Graffiti Hall of Fame and the Guitar Center Spin-Off.

Deemed NYC's Best Kept Secret, Sphere has single handedly changed the landscape of the DJ scene in lounges and clubs throughout the city. His musical repertoire is not defined by just Hip-Hop & R&B alone, thus nicknamed the Universal DJ.

Consistency and professionalism merged with quality high demand music, targeted for the club, lounge or at home listening pleasures confirms Sphere’s versatility.

Today you can catch him in all the hot spots around the tri-state area, doing what he does best…Shaking The World!
