My name is Barry Simonds and I'm a drummer/drum maker living in the Atlanta area. I have been playing drums now for 20 years and drum making has become a huge passion of mine. I begin my research on drum making back in 1995 after meeting drummer Sandy Ficca of Firefall and discovering he built his very own drums. Being the crafty person I am and being a drummer myself, I set out to learn everything I could about building my very own drum. Fast forward to 14 years later, drummers James Wormworth, Brian Smith, Joey Williams, and drummers alike are now enjoying the experience! Unlike most manufactures that produce the same drums over again on a assembly line, Simonds drums are each crafted by hand one at a time. Custom drums allows the drummers to express themselves with a choice of sizes, materials, finishes and just about any configuration possible. Maple, Birch, and Mahogany ply shells by Keller available, other configurations and wood types are also available. The material list is long and the sky is the limit!
