Teach Man To Fish

About Me

Scott Schell / Bass, Guitar and Vocals currently playing in North Shore Grease – Scott is a Stillwater, MN, native and a victim of mandatory piano lessons at age 8. However, his passion for music was fueled by the twang of the guitar. The piano lessons eventually ended, but his desire to play guitar grew even stronger as he synthesized his musical character from a cross-pollination of Memphis soul and Detroit rhythms seasoned with the 60’s sounds from Great Britain. Without parental knowledge, he learned to play on other kids’ guitars at their houses. When his parents finally bought him his own guitar at age 14, they were amazed to discover he could already play very well. A veteran of the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin music scene since the early 70’s as both a performer and sound company entrepreneur, Scott is uncomfortable with any focus on him or his band resume. “Let’s just say I picked up the bass one day because the country band I was playing with desperately needed a bass player to keep it together. Sometimes you just have to adapt. I liked anchoring the music, so I just kept playing bass. It felt right.”
